No rev limiter fitted to the 07 Yaris then?

What circumstances or driver would allow an engine to rev over 9000 RPM?

I didn’t think it went to 9000 revs. The T Sport goes to 8000 so I’m sure a T2 wouldn’t go any higher.

I’m sure the car wouldn’t allow you to go higher than safely allowed?

If it’s a new car I would want a brand new engine, not a second hand one. Have you had a quote from Toyota?

I totally agree with those sentiments.................the engines have got built in protection.....(Rev limiter) just to protect from blowing.

If the rev limiter did not work then you should be able to claim a new replacement engine.

I dont quite understand what the post mean. In the first post you need an engine for 'your' yaris but in the second post the 'driver' revved it to 9000rpm :S

As said above i would think that the rev limiter wont let you rev that high.

What exactly has 'blown' on the engine? Has the chain snapped/doesnt run/con rod cracked the block/knocking etc etc or is it just running rough?

These engine are very easy to work on/strip/rebuild :D
