Visibility For Kids In Child Seats?

Hi

We're very close to getting a special edition Verso SR Diesel - it's fast, handles well, has loads of gizmos, not too big and a great price, but have one niggling problem. Are we missing something here, but is there any reason why the middle row seats are so low? Our kid is 19 months old, and he's still a good several inches under the window and can therefore see absolutely nothing except for the door interior - I suspect it will be a few years before he's tall enough to see out. I can only imagine the trouble this will cause on long boring journeys, and we're not prepared to just stick him in front of a DVD :)

We've test driven the C4 picasso, S-Max and C-Max and not had this problem (with the S-Max he's a good 25cm above the bottom window line). Is this a problem for anyone else - I'm wondering if we perhaps have a 'low' child seat, or maybe the middle row is height adjustable and we missed that feature? I just can't see how they could design a family car without considering this

Anyone got any thoughts?

Cheers,

Andy

I would not say it is below the window but perhaps not as high other cars maybe it depends on the car seat you have also the backs of the car seat are adjustable ie you can move them from a reclining position to a more upright position

Hope it helps

Thanks for the response - I think you're right about the recline, because we went down to another dealer today and tried it out again, this time it didn't seem half as bad, lol :) It's definitely lower than some of the other MPVs out there, but we've decided to live with it and go for a Verso. Will no doubt be posting here on a regular basis!

Which model are you going for I can recommend the 2-2 D4D but it does depend on the type of driving you do and how much you want to spend

Going for the 2.2 D4D SR, pretty decent drive and the spec is great, especially compared to say, the Zafira. It's close between the Verso and the S-max Zetec (preferred the S-max from a driving POV); what swung it was the smaller size of the Verso (my wife calls the Smax 'a bus'), better spec, and apparent superior reliability. Also been told it's 2-3 week wait on the Verso, so (if true), tha'ts great as most other cars were quoted at least 8 weeks.

I am sure you will be pleased with it I am with mine and the SR spec is a good buy

Our little boy is just over 2, and he has no problems seeing out of the window. We use a Maxi Cosi Priory XP seat.

Much easier and cheaper to get a new car seat if needed rather than get the wrong car.

We came to the Verso, after 6 months of very unhappy Ford Cmax ownership (our first non-Japanese car for many years). The car and the dealers were bad enough to put me off having another Ford for quite some time.

I recommend the Verso. I don't think you'll regret it.

Just got back from doing battle with the dealers and have ordered my verso :)

I got a superb deal, much better than any internet price I've seen, plus a shed load of freebies thrown in. Delivery on the 30th, taking it home on the 1st Nov.
