Hello,

Anyone has any details on the active subwoofer that Toyota has on offer? It's the slim type that fits under the driver's seat, but unfortunately my dealer here in Athens doesn't stock it... :(

The only thing I can say is that you can get a better sub for less money...

I've got a Pioneer TS-WX11A under my passenger seat and it only

cost me just over half of what Toyota wanted without fitting it...

I fitted the Pioneer myself:

Thanks for your reply. I didn't find any specs on the Toyota one (who's the maker anyhow?), nor, of course, the price. But maybe, just maybe, it would be a viable solution - economically speaking - if you consider that I have to pay for postage to Greece for the Pioneer and installation is pretty expensive at car audio shops. Maybe.

By the way, what are the cables underneath the driver's seat?? Do they have something to do with it?

Cheers

Do you mean the cables that are there allready?

They're for the side airbags and the seatbelt detection.

As for the price: the Sub lists for €290,49 without and

€363,91 WITH installation at the dealer in The Netherlands.

Are you sure there's no shop in Greece that stocks or sells

the Pioneer? I only paid €169 for mine, including shipment

from Germany, while it retails for €249 in the shops over here...

Ah, I was hoping maybe the cable there is a sub connector... oh well.

FGS, €290??? That's a LOT...

I managed to find the Pioneer one - it seems Pioneer started importing it here as well. They also have the 22 model, thicker by 3cm and more powerful by 25W (I think), BUT the price is an extortion: 250 for the 11 model 272 for the 22!!! Damn, I guess I'll have to import it and try to install it myself...

Thanks for helping!! :)

Cheers

There is NO sub-connector on the Factory Radio, the Toyota Sub makes use of a "High Level Input";

simply said is's connected in parrallel to the rear speaker outputs. If you want to install a Pioneer that's

the way to go too; both the TS-WX22A abd TS-WX11A can handle line-level as well as speaker-level.

The TS-WX22A is actually the predecessor of the TS-WX11A; their power output is the same,

but the newer model is smaller. You might think this would give less bass, it's actually better.

Due to the cone being shaped differently it's more stiff than the round one in the 22, which gives

a nicer, "stiffer" bass, I like it a lot. And since it's smaller it won't get in the way of your rear

passengers' feet either. The 22 WILL fit underneath the seat though if you want;

a fellow Dutch forum-mermber has a 22 under his passenger seat...

Oh, I know about the factory radio. I have replaced it with a Sony CDX-GT700, but what you say makes sense.

Also thanks for the feedback about the 22, i indeed like the size of the 11 very much... Just need to learn how to do the electric wiring without paying through the nose OR getting fried :D

If you've ever done any electrics it's pretty straight forward...

Ah, there's the catch, this is the first can I've *owned* so I've never meddled with electrics... Oh well. Thanks for your help, much appreciated :)
