Avensis 3 Button Blank Key/blade

Hi people,

Firstly I would just like to say that I've just bought an Avensis 2.0 D4D which is my first ever Toyota!! Pretty good car but it does sound a lot like an old Massey Fergusun!! (that's a tracter by the way).

Anyway, I only have one key for the car and am trying to purchase a blank 3 button key and Shell. I have seen one that is very similar on eBay but it isn't listed for an avensis and the blade looks slightly different.

Anyone got any ideas where I can get one?

The idea is that I'll get it cut and then just get an old key off eBay so I can take out the transponder chip and re-prgramme it.

Any info would be greatly apreciated!!

Hi mate,

I did buy some key fob from ebuy(6 pounds) but when I did ask toyota to programm it they said that they can not.They said whether it is the fob or ecu,they do not know.I did make new blade form local locksmith(cheap).But the key still do not work!The new key cost about 180 at my Toyota dealer.Is it expensive???.Consider that if you loose you last key it will cost you about 1000 pounds to change ECU and keys.Conclusion,you can try buy keyfob and make new blade it will costa much less but no guarantee that it will work.Spec how to programm you will find on forum somewhere.

Maybe other guys have got the links.

I too have just bought an '03 Avensis. I only have a grey key with no remote. At the time I thought it wouldn't be a problem but I have now been told I need the original master key otherwise I need the ECU re-programmed. Do you have the original black keys or only the grey?

This issue seems to be common with Toyota. I wish I had checked these forums before I bought the car!

hi you still can get an extra key if you need 1 if you only have grey key left but it will only be a key like you have not a remote key.

I have one original black key.

Have just seen a blank, uncut, key on eBay with the same part number as mine so might bid on that. Apparently it comes with instructions on how to prgramme to your car so will let you guys know how it goes.
