Lowering Springs

Hi, welcome. I've just ordered a set of Toyota springs from a dealer for £146. They're an optional extra for the Gen7 so guaranteed to fit and should be good quality, I think they're the same as the ones made by Eibach... will drop 30mm. Will let you know how they feel probably by the end of next week once they've been fitted.

I also have the TTE springs by toyota. They come stock on the GT so cant really go wrong with them!

Cost me £130 for springs from local dealer with a 10% discount. They are progressive, but not as progressive as the TRD ones.

Lowers the car between approx 30mm.

aquazi - your setup looks exactly like mine will once it's done... 17" wheels, TTE springs and 45 profile tyres... tell me what width are yours? 215 or 205? I was a little worried that once mine is done I might have problems with the tyre fouling the wheel arch, have you had any issues like this? I figured it wouldn't be a problem (probably) as the springs are an official toyota option for the Gen 7 and also that the T-Sport (which is the same chassis as all the other Gen 7s) comes standard with 17" wheels....

Oh... and any chance of posting a full on side shot of your motor? I want to see what mine will look like when it's done cuz your alloys look similar too.

The measuring tape conveniently covered the first part!

The tyres are 215/45/17 Toyo Proxy R in the second picture with the measure tape = diameter of about 61cm.

They are 215/40/17 Dunlop SP9000 in the first un lowered pic. = diameter of about 58cm

Stock toyota Tsport and GT wheels which are 17 come with 205/45/17...diameter of about 59cm - so mine are are a little taller (and wider)

Personally i think 215/40/17 look nicer than the 215/45/17 as the tyre wall is smaller, however they cost more and give a harsher ride.

There is plenty of room in the arches... I have had 18" rims on, with 225/40/18 tyres which increase the diameter by atleast 3cm.

Aquazi - I think I pass you most days on my way home from work, often see a lowered silver G7 heading from Oakwood kind of area down to Spondon Asda. Next time you see a black pre-facelift G7 heading the other way, gimme a flash! :) (but not this week, I'm not around!)

Actually I think I sometimes see you about as I live in Oakwood and often see a silver Celica that looks like yours... small world eh!

I think I have seen DefiantFrog too, but as always is the case by the time I register another Celica going by its too late to wave!

I dont know where oakwood is... but maybe i pass through it

I live near the city center and work in Burton on Trent so my daily commute is A38 to the city if that makes any sense - not been living in Derby too long so am hopeless with areas! but i know where the Asda is!

My plate begins with KAZ1 so if you see me give me a wave!

Back on the topic on hand - lowering springs.... nikc1 if you car is more than 3/4 years old when you get the lowering springs done may be worth while getting the rubber stoppers replaced also... only cost a few quid but to do them later will require the shock and spring to be removed again..

Also make sure you get your tracking done after

haha! Hey, you wanna meet up on the park on Friday night and show those Nova boys what a real car is?? ;) Probably worth explaining to them that they can wheel spin, not because of amazing power, but more to do with budget tyres...

What if one of them has shoe-horned a 2.0 Litre Calibra engine into one  ?

Is the fastest FWD car in the UK still a Nova with a 2.5L V6 Calibra engine in it? Or was that before the invention of the V6 3000cc Clio?
