Hi people,

got a Subaru Impreza WRX at the min putting out around 285bhp and seen a few smart MR-S' but the power output from the 1.8vvti is a lot less than where i'm at at the min...

Can you get a vvtLi in the MR-S? With the variable lift on the cams as well?

Also i know there are a few of you running superchargers..how reliable are these new vvti engines under stress of the supercharger or cams? I know the cars are much lighter than my Subaru so power to weight ratio is a lot better, and mid engine rear wheel drive is a fantastic set-up..

Plus the TRD stage 1 (splitter) kit looks lovely ;)

Not to mention the beast stage 2 kit (the full replacement bumpers) mmm

Let me know your thoughts guys

Thanks

Willo

ey up, i dont own a mr2 but read a lot on this site, a tsport engine has been droped in a mr2 many times, dont think you can actually buy one with lift from toyota.

have a look on www.spiderchat.com/forums , it will be of some help to you.

not sure how the lift will compare with your 285bhp but i love my lift makes me grin everytime i take the car out lol :)

I think from what i've read that you can drop the 180bhp vvtli straight in, but they dont do one out of the factory. From what i've seen from the elise 111r it looks like an almost identical size engine. Though if you're gonna fit some forced induction i've heard that the standard 1ZZ-FE engine is a lot better at coping with the extra strain than the 2ZZ-GE. Also, have you considered the Honda S2000 engine? It fits in the elise so may well fit in the MR2. Thing is with both of these is you'd need to get a 6speed box to make the most out of it.

If you really want to do a job on it though get one with low mileage and take it to silverstone performance! Check out their website, you'll soon be drooling for a makeover. The stage 2 SP240 must be amazing.

Had some passenger rides in scoobies in the past but never driven one, but i think if i had the choice between it and the MR2, i'd chose the latter every time. Never fails to put a smile on my face! A quick nip round the shops turns into a half hour joy ride every time!!
