A quality brand 5w 30 semi synthetic is more than adequate and should cost you less than £20 for 5 Litres, there is a case for going fully synthetic, but IMHO it starts to get very expensive and do you really need it?

Cheers Parts King,

Well I dont really need it, I was planning to do a oil change next week and needed to know what oil to use.

Do Toyota do Oil Filter kits too? And would you happen to know the prices of them?

And I need a oil filter wrench, I found a part number but do you know how they cost?

Sorry for all the questions but I guess you are the best person to know..

Cheers,

Mobil ay? Thanks Marty!

I would of thought GTX would of been better, have you had any experience in the two oils?

When my Compressor was serviced at Mr T's they gave me a top-up bottle of Mobil1 so I assume that's what they recommend

Fully synthetic.....Better or Worse?

Worse for your pocket!

No doubt its better oil, but it is not a requirement, semi is perfectly capable of the job and at half the price. Get a good quality semi and save money

According to some car software thing it says the oil capacity is 4.4 litres.

Can anyone else confirm this on a Corolla T sport.

And would it be a problem to put 4 litres in?

Cheers!

It will be if you have 3 litres in there already :D

Yes did some googling and apparently fully is better because its more pure..

Fantastic.

only use fully synthetic especially if u only service every 10000 as semi wont protect for that long - the toyota garage i bought from says toyota dont use semi in newer models. this is how service intervals are longer now, toyota use to specify every 6000miles for an oil change when they used semi.do some research and u will see there is a vast difference between semi & fully sythetic. i use full synthetic and still change every 3 -4k. u have spent good money on a decent car so why not give it the best!

Thats good because I have just bitten the bullet and bought 2X 4Litres of Mobil 1 ESP for £45 for the pair on eBay (£45 per one at halfrauds).

I am 6months in since my service and thought I do a oil change, Ae102 what oil do you use? because if you did it every 3-4 months thats quite alot times in a year...

Not true. Semi is perfectly acceptable for most modern applications. It is used by MOST of the dealer network

- the toyota garage i bought from says toyota dont use semi in newer models. this is how service intervals are longer now, toyota use to specify every 6000miles for an oil change when they used semi.

Again. Not true, longer service intervals were brought on by newer technology and oils being able to cope better, but semi will last for 10K No problem. Semi and fully were not even made when 6K intervals were around

do some research and u will see there is a vast difference between semi & fully sythetic.

True. It is better quality by far, but do you really need it? If you were racing or rallying maybe, not going to the shops or your yearly trip to Bournmouth! (Sorry Bournmouth)

i use full synthetic and still change every 3 -4k. u have spent good money on a decent car so why not give it the best!

No problem. Its your car and you spend on it how you feel. My point is, for normal driving and for the everday motorist, semi is perfectly good. One reason for recomending Fully synthetic oil is the markup (Profit) is far better, thats why people want to sell it you

i use valvoline syn power - it normally retails at over £30 but im freindly with local motor factor and pay £25. i change every 3 -4k as it was a habit i got into from my GXi. u dont need to change full as often as i do but it gives me peace of mind and if u plan on keeping your car for a few years its a cheap insurance and one of the best ways to keep it in good condition. think why dealers arent encouraging you to use good oil?
