Clutch Slipping

Hi -

Just a quick one really - my clutch has recently started to slip on my 94-99 UK 6th gen GT - I'm just wondering how long it can be left before it needs sorting ? - it's only a slight slip at the moment and with gentler driving it's not too noticeable - so, could this be left for another 3 months or so (money), or is it a job that needs to be done right away?

TIA

Hi, I guess it depends on how you're planning on driving for the next 3 months. If you take it easy it might last 3 months or even longer. If it's slipping because the plates are nearly worn out, then it should get progressively worse until it just packs in completely.

I'd say, keep an eye on it so to speak...if it starts to get noticeably worse get it done asap. You don't want your clutch to completely go on you or you'll be getting towed home.

Thanks mate - the plates do seem to be getting progressively more worn - it's slightly worse week/month by month - I have driven it hard (and enjoyed it :)), but I'll stay conservative for a month or two and then get it done then.

Ta.
