New Gauges To Install

afternoon troops,

just thought i would put this one out there - i ordered some gauges to put in the four - boost, water temp and oil pressure. i reckon i can fit the boost one ok, but all the same, is there anything sneaky i should look out for when trying to install these? i have never done this before, and have found some (hopefully not too vague) install instructions from both google and the autodials.co.uk website (place i ordered them from).

will there be any nasty surprises or very hard to reach pipes etc that i need to know about and how long roughly should this kind of install take?

if anyone has any procedures they can email me or show me would be spot on!

cheers for any help in advance

D

nobody? :(

does anyone know the inner diameter of a st205 radiator inlet/outlet pipes? as i need to buy the water temp adaptor to place in between the hoses as apparently i have an st205 radiator in my st185. i reckon its the 32mm one i need, can anyone confirm that for me? ive also received the "optional" oil filter sandwich plate and a new oil filter while im there. got the boost tubing coming in a wee grommet from engine bay so all i need is this water adapter then its play time! oh got me a DIN gauge holder for where the head unit sits as the dash mount holder i got just looked naff and didnt really fit the curvy dashboard! (gutted)

Cheers

Dave

alright

aye not got round to fittin the oil/water yet, still tryin to find oot the inner diameter of the rad hose to get the adapter. boost is working good tho. altho ive noticed i seem to be only running on 7-8psi max boost on all gears? i thot the standard was 7psi on 1st-2nd and 10psi on 3rd-5th if anyone can confirm that for me? i suspect the tvis valve or whatever its called is still disabled giving me a flat boost around all gears (usually done in prep for increasing boost) all this just adds up to the car having been abused in the past with a boost controller on the sticky marks and everything are still on the dash!

anyways thats all by the by! - ive got her booked into AWD in perth (relative) so i know he wont mess me about you know they seem to have a good few tricks up their sleave to see if they can find this god damn leak :P

how you gettin on in the GTI? all good i hope! whats next on the list of things??

cheers

Dave

well cheers to GTforbes for coming across a spare rad hose and getting me the measurement! 32mm inner diameter for anyone else interested, will order the adapter soon. i started to install the oil pressure gauge at the weekend, but quickly came to a hault when i couldnt get the !Removed! oil filter off! so tight for space just couldnt do it by hand and i dont have a strap/socket wrench to twist the dam thing off, but a mate is going to let me borrow one. so will attampt at another weekend when its light during the day worst comes to worst will just stick a screw driver thru it and yank it off! (cheers gtforbes ;) ) the Four goes into AWD in perth on sat to try resolve this coolant loss issue - wish me luck guys!
