Compressor Lift?

When I first got my Compressor there were discussions on whether you could feel the lift on these models.

At the time I could feel it at around 5200 whereas some could not detect it at all.

Since Mr T fitted my new ECU I have not been able to feel it any more :o

So, generally, do Compressor owners feel the lift or not?

TTE told me they smoothed out the effect on the Compressors but it still in fact worked.

As mine has done 27K miles I'm not sure whether to go back to Mr T about the lift bolts....

Thanks for any input ;)

Mine has done 9000 miles, you can feel the lift at 5200rpm but only very slightly.

I think this is because your already accelerating pretty quick when the lift kicks in.

mines a 56 plate, wha is yours??

Mine's an '06, so one of the later models.

I looked at a '55 plate at a dealers after I got mine and found slight differences under the bonnet like some vacuum pipes which mine did not have

When I am driving locally there is no lift whatsoever, but I do a lot of long journeys (over 200 miles) After maybe 100 miles or so on the motorway, there is definetely lift above 5200, but what I am noticing is that there seems less torque below 5200. My thoughts are that the ECU enters a "Fuel Saving" made (HAHA) on a long run, but recognises the fact that you need a bit of a boost when you hit 5200. I know for a fact that another poster has similar symptoms to myself. By the way the car has just done 10,000 miles this week since April this year.

Cheers

The one vacuum pipe which the earlier one had but mine does not is the one that operates the air flap on the back of the air filter box.

This means that mine is always open whatever the conditions. Maybe they figured that the engine always needed the air from the engine bay, who knows

750turbo,

You could be right with that, I'm sure I read somewhere that the ecu learns and adapts to your driving.

Think thats me. Mine is the same 750turbos's lift not noticalbe on short journeys but it is after a a longer one, 100 miles is abit extreme i've noticed it after about 30 - 40 miles on the motorway when I come off and boot it from low revs in 2nd or 3rd the lift is very noticable almost to the extent of standard Tsports.

I test drove a 56 plate Compressor last week (5000 miles on the clock) and it was smooth smooth smooth all the way through the range.....

I loved everything about the car....except the engine delivery (puts on flame suit).......i really wanted to buy it as it looks and drives so dam good!! Will now probably have to get something outside Toyota (350z here i come!)

Have to admit a 350z would be a nice alternative but as the Toyota is my (practical) work car I will have to swap it for something similar when it gets too tired ;)

the 350z are a nice car and sound awesome but if you decide to buy one check the oil level on it before you give it a run as some of them were prone to using a lot of oil ,down to the fact that when some were assembled the piston rings were all put in line with each other rather than offset therefore leaving a nice opening for oil to get into the cylinders

Thanks 215 Comp.

Yes Chriso my work will be the only potential issue....as it does not exactly meet the requirments, but then again a 3dr TSC does not ether and they said if i bought one it would not be a problem.

I work for myself so can in fact have any car I like but the 350z has too few seats and limited carrying capacity :(

  • 2 weeks later...

Greetings from Canada.

I've had my Matrix XRS for 4 years now, and I've done quite a lot to it..

My Car

I'd like to know if the corolla compressor parts are available to be purchased.. and if so, does anyone know where?

There has never been factory boosted 2zz-ge engines in North America.

Is there a European Supercharger kit from TTE?

Cheers and thanks in advance.

Mike

Compressor kits have turned up on eBay and were probably left overs from the project.

The kit should be fairly bolt-on and they even come with a new calibrated ECU B)
