Guys...

I bought my CTS about 4 months ago on 17k from Jemca Toyota and they did do a service on it (not show major or minor) but now im almost on 20k, does that mean I need a major service done? What is the difference between minor and major apart from the obvious? :help:

Don't worry, sounds like they did a major service earlier. The car needs a service every year regardless of mileage. I had my 50k service last week and my mileage was 43500. It's whichever comes sooner.

So your next service should be a minor one. 95pounds. Check your log book to make sure though, they should have stamped your 20k/2 year section.

Also stay away from jemca in edgeware road. They are a bunch of theives and unprofessionals. See my other posts regarding my experience with them.

Yes, look in your service book to double check.

Last year when i had my car serviced there they even forgot to write my mielage in the logbook, atleast they managed to stamp it. lol

I had a note of my mileage when i dropped it in, so i easilly filled it in myself.

If you need an alternative dealership try the Twickenham Curry Motors/Toyota/Lexus dealership. I had my car serviced there last week and they were highly professional. Didn't lose my car in their car park for 35mins like Jemca did and didn't push any extra un-needed costs on me. I paid 95 for the service, 77 for lift bolts and 130 for a new tyre. All of which i had known and accounted for. Jemca pushed a 590pound bill at me when i went to pick up my car. Still can't believe it.

You won't have any problems with the twickenham one, infact i think it'll be closer to you as you're in middlesex. It takes me 20mins to get there from Tesco Hoover Building.

It shouldnt affect your warranty as they are an official toyota service centre, so you should get the discount aswell unless it specifically redeemable from only Jemca in Edgeware road. Lady said the Twickenham one is part of the Jemca group but i didn't see any Jemca signs anywhere. Twickenham one is the service and parts area (got to know them well over the past year) and the one near Chiswick Roundabout is the Main showroom. they operate from two sites.

I work near Tesco Hoover Building and live not too far away in West London. I think HArrow is about 10miles away from me.

Have they stamped your 20k service in the log book?

Cheers

30k miles service soon. Any other good toyota service dealers around West london / Herts. area?

Obviously stay well away from Jemca Edgware Road as everyone stresses.

It dpends how long it will take you to do another 4k to make it 20k. The no stamps i the book doesn't sound good. It's either never been serviced or not stamped by accident. Infact i heard of one guy who bought a corolla and it had never been serviced similar mielage to yours. It had been sat on a forecourt for so long that nobody realised. Although 14k can't be done that quickly, so it mostly come down to negligence.

If you do 2k a year then that won't work. You must get it done yearly or by mileage, whichever comes first. If you look after the car and get it looked at whenever its supposed to be, there is no reason why the t-sports wont last another 250k.

hullupelle: i've only had dealings with 3. Toyotaworld in Bristol, Toyota/Luxus/curry Motors Group Jemca Twickenham and Toyota/Lexus Jemca Edgeware Road.

By far the best have been Twickenham. I think possibly becuase they are quite small compared to the others. They can spend time and offer that human element rather than treat you like you're on a production line.

was reading through this post again and realised you mentioned 14k cant be done that quickly. its 3 years old and has coverd 14k i take that as roughly 4.6k a year, is that bad?

i was assuming it was fairly decent :)

Lol, no i meant, assuming the car had sat on a forecourt for a long time, and it would have been below 10k i.e first service not carried out yet. So somewhere after it ended up on the forcourt and then it being sold, it accumalated another 4k. But salesmen probably didnt realise the mileage and the fact it was overdue a service.

The average mileage for the average person is given as 10-12k a year. So anything below that is low mileage. I think betwwen my last service and the current service i did about 4k. Which is nothing compared to how much i drove before i had the t-sport, bu then again i have 2 other cars aswell.
