depends, three variants i was told 172, 182 and 192... more torque than our cts though.

not too sure about the difference in 0-60 but the 182 is quicker than a t-sport and will leave a t-sport for dust in the corners no matter what the weather like.

.....the only RS clio i have extensivly 'tested' my car against is a 182 (60miles home with my mate in the Clio), and there is nothing between the two, 0-60, 0-100, off round abouts etc etc etc......we did not pust too hard on the corners but i have NO doubt the clio would be quicker if you got towards the limit of cormering speed......then again he hired a car for going on holiday because the clio cup suspension was SOLID and uncomfortable to drive long distances in.

Yes totaly standard, i'm sure i had not even removed the snorkle then (which makes no discernable difference other than the noise anyway!)

MY mate who I dice with every sunday on a B road to Afan Argoed has a tweaked 182 and there is nothing in the 2 cars, he can't leave me anywhere and the same is true when i'm in front.

I'm running Falken FK451 tyres which have made a huge difference over the standard Michelin's wet and dry they don't last 2 long but they are proper grippy... :D

A clio is a quicker car, neither the cts or clio are high speed motorway cars, they are B road cars and the clio would smoke a corolla. I have seen standard clios run santa pod in 14.5 which i doubt a corolla would get anywhere near

Yeah, I would have thought clios would be quicker as well. But i've never been up against a standard one ......................... yet

Don't think a corolla is a B road car... I find mine pretty comfortable on motorways, feels very stable at high speed.

It should do its a modern car, as should the clio as well, but lets face it the clio has more torque, more displacement and less weight to lug around, very different cars, the clio is the size of a yaris, the corolla is the size of a megane and lets not get started on the 225.

aha but how many times has the clio broken sown compared to your corolla ; )

I'm sorry to say but a Clio 182 or 192 would put our CTS to the sword around a twisty circuit. I owned a PUG 306 GTI-6 previous to my CTS and that would win round a twisty circuit and it only had 167bhp. Don't get me wrong a CTS would not be embarressed but the french definatley hold the handling bragging rites when it comes to fr cars IMO.

The 182 has only 7 less bhp, is 200kg lighter, has bigger displacement and better suspension. This discussion shouldn't even be taking place.

My mate's Clio has been seriously lowered and in all honesty i think it hinders the car, in terms of acceleration etc there is very little in it...

There is a lot of people running off specs but no1 with real experence, or know if the opposing car is standard! I posted the following on the type-r forum last year.

If i get beaten by a car i will gladly say so, i 've raced and lost against, Ibiza, new Leon Cupra, Astra VXR, RS4 (it was commical taking off over a wet r/a uphill in 1st gear side by side with a RS4)......

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

My friend has a clio 182 (standard) and we went for a 120mile return blast last weekend (i have a standard Corolla T-Sport), bumping into a CTR on the way.

1st off the ctr, i came up behind him pretty rapidly on a DC and he puts the foot down before we both have to brake for the next round about. We both round the r/a and get held up by a slower car in front, the car pulls over and we both floor it from 35ish mph..........and the gap stays the same up to 110ish before braking for the next r/a. I was suitably impressed as although i have never been in a ctr i suspected it might pull away ever so slightly.

The run with the 182 was great fun, but again not a great deal of difference, standing starts, off r/a's or anything else, maybe a 1/2 car length ether way depending on who was on the power 1st.

(and before anyone says, yes if we were on corners and really pushing it i would think both the 182 and ctr would be quicker than the comparibly soft suspension of the CTS)

But what would happen if you install a adjustable coilovers to your rolla.. ;)

I don't think that gti6 pug would win against cts. It has the same engine as xsara vts and they weight about same and vts gets owned by cts. In the corners it would probably go faster as you said jc ^_^

Cts's stock suspension is crappy, we all know that..

Specs me alot in this instance, theres not much power difference between the cars but the 182 is just faster.

I've been up against a few CTR's and in third it will be leaving you every time

Yep, agree with you that the clio is lighter and more torque blah blah blah  . I would expect to get left behind by one

Your mates clios that ran 14.5 was it?

No it was mine when i had it after the yaris ts, was going to get a cts or a ctr but the clio was more fun. Cammed clios were running in the 13's when i took mine to the pod
