I would love to see a totally standard non stripped out 172 FF get 14.5 as well.

You say its possible, as your very own car used to do it.

How comes the guys at cliosport says low 15s is what they get

I'm not disagreeing with you that 172 is quicker, but you talk out of your a$s and exaggerate abit too much just to get to a point.

LMAO I used to beat clio's all day long the only way it would keep up is if there were lots of roundabouts other than that it would be in my rear view mirror and my wife had a 172 andthey aren't very quick at all I think a yaris TS would keep up with one!

So your saying that a standard clio 172 ran a 14.5 1/4 mile?, completely standard nothing removed or any modifications?

Clio 182, awesome. A Go-Kart yes but still awesome. Shocking to drive with a hangover but brutally quick. That said I now own a CTS again and not a 182 any more. Have also driven the 172 and to be honest it felt just as quick as my 182. I had the cup pack fitted to my 182 which firms stuff up a lot. Someone mentioned the Megane 225, brilliant motor but proper unreliable. I do personally think that the French make the best hot hatches but the two I had were rediculously unreliable. They were both less than a year old when I bought them and they both ended up at the main dealers for warranty work. They really did drive me mad. Also, when I had my Clio I was forever being hassled by chavs in lowered super minis. It was near impossible to drive anywhere without being challanged.

Anyway. To the matter at hand. The Clio 182 will always have a slight edge on the CTS performance wise in a straight line, not much though. Handling wise, forget it, the Clio will not be kept up with. The Megane will hammer both the 182 and the CTS, right until it breaks down and you have to phone your mate who owns a Toyota to come and tow the Megane to the garage, again!! Build and quality wise, the CTS wins every time. It is built so well, fast and reliable.

Conclusion? I own a Toyota Corolla T-Sport. Nuff said.

Well said.

The Clio is much better round the corner and have much better midrange. It is a lot smaller inside but because of its size, its great fun to flick the car round corner! Personally, I think it is a better car than the Mini!

The CTS is a different type of car. Much better build and emphasize more on comfort than driving pleasure!

Depends what you look for in a car, they are different----Its like comparing a Ferrai F430 to a Aston Martin DB9, one is a undiluted sports car and the other is a sport GT!

Ah yes just a quick comment about reliability---The CTS is much more reliable than some of the Peugeot hot hatch I used to own--106 Rallye, 106GTI. They are both much more fun to drive than the Rolla but frequent visit to your local dealer is no fun!
