New To Me - Corolla 1.6gs 1999/s Reg

Just bought a 1999 Corolla 1.6GS/S reg here in the UK and, of course, there is no handbook!

Can anyone pease tell me if this model has a manf. fitted alarm and/or immobiliser?

Also, has anyone any instructions for the fitted FM radio/cassette - particularly how you store selected stations Isome of the buttons are worn so unreadable!)?

Lastly; I have tried everywhere to get a handbook/radio insts. without any success even the "The Parts Gateway" group can't help! So if there is anyone out there who could loan me a copy of each to scan for my use I would love to hear from them by PM/email - all postages reapid of course.

it may have had the alarm fitted as an optional extra, if the remote has only two buttons (one above the other and one dimpled) this is most likely to be a factory fit one. i look into digitizing my handbook, it for the 1999 SR model so fairly similar ;)

Neither of the two keys I have have any buttons at all that is why I asked about the immobiliser situation - probably not then!?

I'm pretty sure our Rolla which is a few years older than yours has an immobiliser but not an alarm. No buttons on the key though.

does your key look like this? or is the hole at the top larger, if larger no immobiliser if the same it is fitted with an immobiliser ;)

Certainly looks like that - so I guess I am 'immobilised'?!!!!!!!

a 99 gs will definately have an imobiliser, and i thought, should have a factory fitted alarm with the two buttons as descrided above, my 97 1.3 gs has, and i am pretty sure it was a part of the gs standard spec, it maybe that i am wrong or it had one and it was removed, cos it was cheaper than buying a new fob, but you might want to look into this, as if yours has an alarm and you havent got the key fob, and it somehow activates, ie Battery goes dead, it will be very annoying for you
