Hey guys, just wondering who else out there has a car like mine??

i know many of you guys would have the full st162 1989 models and stuff, but like. .Anyone else got the White Lightening model??

I read that there were only ever 100 of them produced in Australia ;)

i guess that makes my car nice and rare.. hehe

Problem is, it has a brand new motor, like literally 1km maybe on it lol.. and it aint getting used :(

All it needs is a wheel alignment, maybe a tune up in the front end as it has a new motor and maybe a few tires i guess.. But yeh, no rego...

Im in Year 12 doing my hsc and i have like $0 so it sucks to see it sitting down there unused...

Kinding wondering if i should sell it for a fair bit as its very rare then buy something cheaper with rego..

Anyone got any ideas??

This was the car that made me fall in love with Celica's. THE GEN 4 .......it then took me a few years to find one and they were not in the best condition so then I fell for the gen 5 Celica

We do have them over here but they are few and far between :crybaby: but I have not seen the lightning model :crybaby:

I know a few TOC members that would love to have one of theses cars!!!!!

She looks very much loved and its nice to know she is super rare!!! Try and keep her, you wont be a student for ever!!!!!!!

Good luck!

And welcome to the club!!!!

Great looking car mate,

( unfortunately White Lightning is a cheap alcohol over here, popular with the underage drinkers that hang round the shops ! )

Keep it if you're able, and be a cool teacher !

Im the same, I bought mine off Gumtree and was expecting the G reg new style (gt4 style) and when I first saw my future car i was a bit hesitant, but gave it a full wash over and polish, spent a lot of TLC on it and learnt about the engine etc and now absolutely love it.

I think its fantastic that ive only ever seen one on the road in the UK (in edinburgh) and apart from that it seems to be as rare as rocking horse doo dah.

What amazes me though is the longevity of the vehicle and the lack of rust and durability of all the components. 18 years down the line, its lost very few horses from the BHP, everythings running as it should, the last 6 MOTs have passed with flying colours and the only rust I can find on the whole car is a bit on the sunroof (which is common) and its easy for me to take the sunroof out, dremel the rust off, fill it in and pop it back in with 4 screws!

Gushing a little? Maybe, but owning a Gen 4 I think its warranted :P

That sure is an interesting model. Love to see all the nice Celicas around the world other than here in the US.

Is that an "All Trac" or "turbo" model?

no its the toyota 2000 twin-cam 16V ( Exact same engine as the MR2)...FWD....no turbo...but soon to be super charged!

Its a similar engine to the MR2 mk2- not the same, its an earlier variant :)

Never driven a Gen4, I'd love to have a go in one :)

Oh the Gen4 has something to it that I'm just addicted to. Maybe it's got a little bit of primitive nature to it in that you can really feel (with the seatbelt tight) how the car is responding in turns. This one is like a big go-kart and just as fun (for me).

I guess what I meant to say is you can feel when you're pushing the car to its limits. When you pull a sharp turn you can sense somehow what the limit is going to be and not cut it too tight, as opposed to just going in hard and then losing traction from overdoing it. I don't know if this is just a Gen4 thing or something that comes with owning a car for years and driving it hard enough to respect where it's limits are.

I couldn't quite get the same level of feedback from a Gen6 I had, but it may be because I drove it completely stock, and the seats were softer.
