Hi, I am in the process of looking to buy a Toyota Celica Second hand, and am looking at spending around abotu £7.500. I have noticed one thing, some models the front toyota Badge has sum kind of mesh behind it, and on other models the toyota Badge is straight on the body work. Has anyone else come accross this difference, and does anyone know why this is?

Any comments would be helpfull, thanks,

Hi,

The 7th. generation had a face lift in late 2002 or early 2003 ( I think !!! ), the Badge was then mounted directly onto the bonnet, with no 'hole' in the bonnet !!!!

I hope that helps !!!!

All the Celicas from '03 on are like this, you will also notice the air intake is much wider, and lower down, replacing the smaller one (the mesh you describe) There were a lot of improvements on these models I believe, not just a "facelift".

It's a good way to quickly recognise the newer model as reg numbers can sometimes be misleading

hi as the above comment said, the pre-facelift models are more desireable to have as personally i think they look a lot better but i do like the vent in the front of the new ones, i have a black gen 7 currently for sale if you are interested mate. thanks

appearance is down to taste, however the FACELIFT are most certainly more desirable. They fixed many issues on the facelift. EG:

Better lift bolts on the facelift on the VVTLI

larger 275mm front brakes, no oval piston issue on the VVTI

Also the Badge is on the bumper not the bonnet on both versions. ;) Basically visual difference from a facelift are:

different front bumper (as noted)

different rear light

Different non itallic speedo.

Darker interior plastics

Orange center console lights (prefacelift are green)

I think that model is called 'Celica Blue' , they also did one called 'Celica Red'. That had red leather seats - with lots of 'extras at very little extra cost' - they look really good
