Should I Get One?

Hi all,

I currently drive a Corolla T3, and have it for two years, but am now after something a bit more fun to drive... I've got a budget of around 10k, and have been looking at Clio 182's, Ibiza Cupra's, and Cooper S's, none of which are REALLY shouting out at me. I was on Auto Trader just now though and found a really nice, clean 05 plate facelift T-Sport....but would it, in the opinion of you guys be a good buy? The main thing I love about my T3 is only one thing has gone wrong in the last two years (inlet manifold has needed replaceing which is a common problem), and thats it....but before I have to settle down and buy a sensible car in a few years time I want to have a fast, fun, but reliable car....is the T-Sport that?

I work for Mr H and have had CTR's on and off for a long time and i rate these higher than my CTS if your only in it for the drive, however compared to the CTS its harder, more expensive to run and purchase and causes boy racers to feel the need to race you all the time.

The reason i own a CTS are the 5drs, the understated looks i.e i can leave it anywere in reason, reliability and most of all the looks on peoples faces when an "old mans" car blows them away :D Also the police dont tend to be on the look out for Corolla's!!!

Since owning mine i have K & N'd it, fitted lowering springs, bought the Remus exhaust, the strut brace, just awaiting the brakes to need replacing so i can upgrade them then the car is finished, these mild mods have improved the car no end.

Overall once you get used to the quirks its an excellent car.

Get one! The best and most reliable car I've owned so far and the understated looks of the pre-facelift model suit me fine and as mentioned I don't get chavs wanting to race me but when I floor it they can't believe its a corolla.

My older brother has the CTR and although its a great drive and the performance is great its not comfortable for long drives so I ruled it out. Depends on what you like in the end but I prefer my CTS.

Thanks for the replies guys. I'm now seriously considering....before I didn't really want to get one, as I didn't want an almost exact same car again, but I can't see the grass on the other side being much greener, none of the other cars I mentioned are really floating my boat, and I've found a couple more really nice examples of T-Sports. Just don't know now whether to try and save a bit extra and maybe go for a Compressor?! :)

yeah get one. The cts is good because; excellent engine, reliable, good mgp (Can get about 33mpg and that's using lift occasionally), comfortable seats, rare, understated, cheaper to insure than ctr,

Bad things; very annoying squeeky brakes, annoying auto rain sensor (doesn't seem to wipe it often enough and sometimes wipes too often!), annoying stereo unit always coming from the fascia. Apart from these minor annoying things, I love the cts.

Go buy one mate - for ALL the above reasons,

its definatly not just another corolla, test drive it and you'll see! :D

Cheers
