Hello everyone,

last week i started a complete maintanance for my Celica 5th. Gen. and as i was working on the Cylinder head.....i tried to install a new Timing Belt, and i changed the Tension pulley. i bought a brand new Timing Belt from Toyota dealer but as i was trying to install it i found out that the part shown in the pic below is not working very well, cause i was not able to fit the timing belt in it's place........my question is if anyone can help, How does this part work ???how can a press the marked shaft in the pic in order to be able to fit the timing belt in it's place??? i tried by all means to press it but it didn't work......thank's for help.... by the way, excuse my bad english, i'm from germany and i tried my best.

you need to compress the tensioner in a vice and insert a pin (drill bit works well) to hold the tensioning pin in the compressed position. fit the belt and remove the drill bit using pliers check the tensioner pully is tight and that should be it
