i was looking to trade in my hatch and get a 2.2 150bhp estate but the dealer wont budge from the on his price of £18537 incl met paint. he is not knocking anything off the car aprat from a toyota discount to tempt me to buy the TR over the T3-x.

when i bought my current car in 2004 i got the what car price no problem but this doesnt seem to be the case this time and i wondered if anyone had any luck in reducing the price of the car to the current what car price of £17868?

thanks

matthew

I used Carfile they are showing there price as £17,174.72 ( £2,470.28 discount) to buy an Avensis estate tr 2-2 D4D

I bought a 2-2 Verso from them could not have been easier I phoned them and within 15 minutes a local dealer called me back agreed the price and they also took my trade in car as part exchange and gave me the same price as another dealer had offered .they also gave me a discount on parking sensors

Any money was paid to the Toyota dealer on collection of the car also any offers Toyota was offering was available to me

I think the dealer is trying it on ! It is a buyers market out there but it is always the cost to change that matters and I am sure you will get a better deal if you stick at it

There may be a few very low mileage TR pre regs'. or ex demonstrators available worth consideration including potentially, even some higher grades?

i agree bjw. it is the cost to change. however i think the dealer is trying to sting me on the part ex as well. i reckon he is offering around 800 quid less than the parkers part ex price for the current avensis. either eay i have a cash price of £8k to get my new car on the dealers figures and i think it should be nearer £5.5k.

i will try those websites though. thanks for everyones help

yes mate i did. i held out and told the dealer i was going elsewhere. i wasnt expecting anything then the next day i got a call from him and he lowered the cost to change by £1k which is what i wanted. i know you carnt compare deals but he sold me the tr estate 2.2 for £16100. whether this compensated for the part ex offer he gave i will never know. but i am happy with what i have paid. especially as the first delaer said he was busting a gut at a cost to change of £3k more.
