Got this on the road at the weekend and tried to install my apline CDE 9850Ri

After working out which wire was which, i began to set it up, all went well, (after melting a wire) i got there. CD player powers, turns on, plays music kinda...

When engine is OFF, but ignition is ON cd player works, plays music etc...

When engine is ON nothing...no music, BUT CD player is working etc just no sound...

I managed to get it a couple of times, BUT as soon as i (say) put my lights on, it cuts the sounds off...

I have checked and double checked all my wires, they are all fine, there is 3 from the car that arnt hooked to anything and 1 from a harness clip thats not hooked...

3 from the car are a BROWN one, a black with red stripe and a pink with blue stripe

the harness is an Orange 1....which i make out to be illumination but might be wrong

any suggestions???

Hi, Let me guess that one of your problems was the orange wire which if my memory serves me correctly is always the one to the powered aerial. If you connect it to the lighting you'll get all sorts of problems.

F/R on the diagram i was given was actually the dimmer, so...we swapped them round and boom sounds and what not...justo n the rush to put it back together we never hooked up ignition or memory...so i will sort them when i can b ubikd...once i have amped up my Speakers n need to pull it out again.

I have the diagram that i was given on the Computer, if need be i can email it on, and try explain what issue i came across and how i sorted them...Apart from the wiring its self, that was pretty much 9-% of the problem. Was Pretty messy Wasnt It Dave?

hi mate,

yeah i had a less than confortable time gettin a cd player installed. that diagram was preety accurate about 90% of the time, i had to improvise for the rest but got there in the end, as you know bertie boy, there wasnt alot of loom to play with in ur car but as far as i could see the diagram was good enuff to get it all hooked up. the trouble i had was just findin a constant Battery feed which i ended up takin from a fuse nearby. but in all honesty the diagram was good for the original cabling and colour coding etc (imo). hope it helps some peeps oot there (http://www.installdr.com/InstallDocs/Toyota/PDF/869033.pdf) its mainly for the st182-185 and theres one for b4 model but maybe beyond that but i dont know for sure.
