Hi All

I am from South Africa and I have a RUNX RSI 1.8 VVTL i ( 141 kws ) and more commonly known to you as the Corolla T Sport Hatch.

I am looking for the supercharger that bolts on to the vehicle , part number and where I can actually buy this part ( the one that was fitted on the T Sport Compressor - limited edition ) and any small modifications that you know of as well will be very useful.

I am tired of all of the VW drivers here in my country and want to put an end to their noise

Please help, so all you Toyota fanatics no suggestion will be turned down

Best regards

Deno

Have you looked on eBay? There was a company that was selling the complete supercharger kit, also they offered the full fitting and setup. I think it was around 1500-2000 pound region.

Cheers

hmmm 1500-2000 region that dont sound too bad, things i would like to know are;

how much bhp extra will this give ?

also would our lift still enable at 6200 or would it change ? (hence same as a compressor)

woould be amazing if the supercharger gave us loads of low revs power then our lift kicked in at 6200 still :D or am i in dream world lol

i think lift still kicks in the same yet lift isnt as obviose due to extra power that is already there from the compressor .. sum one well correct me if am wrong

Yes, you are spot on. Power delivery would be identical to a compressor. I think the general consensus on this board was it's just not worth supercharging a t-sport. It works out cheaper to actually trade in and buy a proper compressor as you get all the extra bits that actually come with the compressor.

All depends how much you want to spend, but for almost 2grand a 20bhp increase just isn't cost effective. Better to trade in, or keep the t-sport and spend the extra on handling and maybe a superchip?

Cheers

Hi Guys

This is good, hardly any one in South Africa know about the compressor that cam with the vehicle so this will enable me to have the leading edge over them, and one more thing what is this superchip ?

We have unichip, dastek and all sorts of piggy backs but none works on my vehicle. It is a 2006 model and when you chip the vehicle it works wonders but only for a short while and thereafter the ECU goes into !Removed! mode or limp mode. The ECU acknowledges that there is something wrong the system and goes into protection ..

So please post some info on this Super chip ..

Thx for all of your advice so far ..

The kit that has been advertised is one left over from the Compressor project.

I believe it includes the matching ECU.

The Compressor has loads of low down torque but the lift becomes invisible as TTE smoothed it out to gently come in around 5200rpm.

The supercharger kit along with a cold air kit and decent exhausts can make for a great fun car.

In South Africa I think the car would benefit from an intercooler too ;)

Hi Chrisio

fisel has found the correct link.

It's strange how the 'buy it now' price is £1850 but in the text it says £1650 ;)

I really can't think what this £400 part is that the UK cars require but the advantage for XZIBIT is that they would deduct the vat off for South Africa B)

Hi Guys,

I too am from South Africa, I have a 2003 RunX 160 RX, 3ZZ-FE, I have put a sportflow air filter, forced air intake, cowley performance pipe, and a DASTEK - Qchip, no proplems so far.

Std spec 81kw @ 4400rpm & 146nm torque, = 52kw on wheels.

after current enhancements at altitude JHB, 93kw @ 3800rpm, 62kw & 235nm torque on wheels.

3weeks ago i relocated to the coast and car started running heavy on fuel, so i have talken it again to remap the unichip,

and some strange results have popped up, not believing the outputs that can come from such a small motor.

118kw @ 4800rpm, 74kw on wheels, "96hp", i didnt get a torque reading.

how is this possible? espessially i cant feel the kick which i had previously when the vvti advanced.

Regards SP@C3Y

Stephen, you may be waiting a while! His first post was 6th Nov 2007! and only 4 posts in total, I figure he gave up a while back!

As for you, SP@C3Y. Not a clue! It does seem a big increase all of a sudden. Is the fuel any different where you moved to? I know it doesn't create a great deal of difference, but you never know!

£1700 from prolex. well worth it!

you CAN'T trade your t sport and get a compressor for an extra £1700. seems cheap to me an extra 26bhp and another 22ft\lb. you can download the fitting guide on toyota's technical site, you can do it yourself if you have basic spanner skills. if it was me i wouldnt have the TTE ecu - buy a remappable one and you can have more go than the t sport could handle.

I beleive they've sold them for that price for quite some time now.

It's not a one off as far as I'm aware.
