Rav4 Min Disk Thickness

Hi, I am planning to do some maintenence on my RAV 4 which will involve changing the front and rear brake pads. Can any one tell me the minimum acceptable thickness for the front and rear brake disks so I can check those before I fit new pads. I am not getting any braking problems so disks are not warped or anything.

The Car is a 5 Door '52' Reg 2.0 Petrol Auto in GX trim.

On the series 1 RAV its 18mm. On yours ????

Data I have for 4.2 is:

Front Min 23mm

Rear Min 7.5mm

Min pad thickness 1mm front and rear.

You're lucky as the older 18mm jobs were rubbish. The thicker ones you have should last and also dissipate heat better I reckon. Just don't get ripped off by some plonker telling you the discs need replaced.

when i had my rear brake discs removed to clean them i found that it was written on it...

I remember now that the original discs have the size stamped on them.

Back in the good old days, if a disc was scored they would skim it. Now they just tell you to fit new ones.... and they only come in pairs!!!

Anybody looking for a selection of nearside discs for a RAV mk1????
