Hi,

I have a 2004 on a 53 plate Corolla 5d diesel Hatchback. Its a 2.0 D-4D . Can someone tell me if this is a Euro3 or a Euro4 compliant engine?

Thanks.

EDIT: The car is a 2.0 D-4D T3 (116ps) 5d. I need to know if it has a diesel particulate filter fitted.

Thanks for the reply.

The reason I asked is I bought some 'Millers power plus' but then found out its not for Euro 4 engines. I emailed millers who said my car was a Euro 3 engine, but when I kept seeing references to Euro4 I emailed them back.

They replied saying that If I was convinced my engine was Euro4 then I should not use 'power plus' as 'euro 4 has lower emissions and most euro 4 have a diesel particulate filter fitted and the diesel power plus affects them'

If my car doesn't have a DPF then I suppose it might be alright, but I'm not taking the chance on it affecting something else. I'll swallow the £10 hit and order 'diesel power sport 4' which is suitable for Euro 4.

Thanks again.

No worries.

Just read about that Millers Power Plus, do you think it would have much of an affect on my car?

I have the same engine as you but mine is a 2006 '56' plate, however I have done just over 30,000 miles.

Thanks

I don't know how good the stuff is. This will be the first time I've used it. From what I've read about it in diesel forums it seems to do what it claims.

Millers are dropping 'diesel power plus' in favour of 'diesel power sport 4' everything I've read suggests it good for any age of car.

One bottle will treat 500l so that's nearly 10 full tanks. For £11 its worth a go. One post I read said it added about 60miles to what he got from a full tank.

If you want to try it be sure to get 'diesel power sport 4'

Toyota literature June 2003

The 2.0 litre D-4D features a variable nozzle turbocharger that boosts the power and torque and aids low fuel consumption and engine emissions. Consequently, the new diesel engine channels a power output of 116 ps (85 kW) into the Corolla that is achieved at 3,600 rpm, with the torque measuring 280 Nm (207 lb ft) from 2,200 rpm allowing the Corolla to reach a top speed of 187 km/h (116 mph) and taking 10.6 seconds to accelerate to 100 km/h.

Like all recently developed Toyota diesel technology, the new engine is Euro 4 compliant with the CO2 emissions rating at 149 g/km and offering 5.6 l/100 km (50.4 mpg) on combined cycle. It benefits from second-generation high-pressure common rail diesel technology, and therefore has the capability to produce an injection pressure of 160 Mpa irrespective of engine speed.

The refined injection system of the new diesel unit includes a chamber shape with enhanced swirl characteristics and an improved fuel injector spray pattern that results in a quieter combustion and lower levels of fuel efficiency and emissions.
