just to give an update, getting nowere fast with toyota or the finance company they are both rubbish, have decided to cut my losses and look for a new car definitely isnt going to be a toyota sorry to say. have had 3 toyotas first 2 celicas were great this one has been a shed and lots of hassle

after a further 2 weeks of hammering away finally got somewere the cars in getting sorted now doing a full investigation and carrying out a major service that has been heavily discounted. fingers crossed there will be some trouble free motoring ahead. had alook at other cars past 2 weeks they just havent the solid build of jap cars, the doors are tinny in hindsight it would have broke me heart to get rid and down grade the performance

in reply to the poster on page1 of this thread. Some dealers misrepresent warranties on cars bought from a dealership. I have a 53 plate and it came with the extended Toyota warranty that they said was the same as the normal full warranty. To this day 2 of the dealers I service my car with confirmed I have a warranty the same as if it were still under the 1st 3 year warranty! That isnt good news from what you are saying as they would now appear to have told me duff info! One of the dealers fobbed me off with a clutch problem 2 weeks after I bought it,other dealer changed it straight away so it does pay to visit other dealers as some can be difficult.

the extended warranty by my understanding is not the same as the manufacturer warranty as it is underwritten by a warranty company not toyota themselves, i picked this up in conversation with the dealer regarding the issue i was having.

with regards to other dealers yes they do tend to tell you different i have had 2 contradict each other, its like servicing they all charge you different prices
