A Pillar Trims (with Airbags)

Hi All,

Need to remove my passenger A pillar trim in order to install my hands free mic. I dont want to set the airbag off, so does anyone know what I can do to prevent this other than disconnect the Battery?

Even if I disconnect the Battery - do I need to leave the car to discharge for a short time?

Cheers,

Steve

Hi I took off my A-pillar covers to install the toyota tweeters.

There is one clip which you just have to pull off with force. The clip is designed to break but mine didnt.

The airbag will not go off, so you do not need to disconnect the Battery.

There is another thread I have seen for a pillar trim removal do a search and it will come up.

the clip isnt supposed to break, its made in such a way that when the airbags go of it swings the pillar cover out of the way and stops it hitting occupants, it is a very important clip, and should be removed carefully, and replaced if broken, as for the airbag, as said, pulling the pillar cover of will not set it off, but if you were to do something else that could, like remove the steering wheel or seats, you need to disconnect Battery and then wait at least 90 seconds for the capacitors in the airbag system to drain
