Mrs Acceleration Problems

Hi there, I have two questions, firstly, as I push the revs in 4th or 5th gear the car seems to choke a bit, it drives on ok but feels like its not getting enough air or petrol, this is at about 4500 rpm? Secondly, it's a 2000 jap import Spyder, does anyone know where I find the thingy for attaching the thingy for reading the fault codes? (the thingy referred to above probably has a techincal name, but I don't know what it is, so thing it is). I've looked in the usual places like under the dash for the connection but have had no luck, is it usually behind a panel somewhere? And yes you've guessed it, I dont have an owners manual.Cheers in advance

Hi,

I seem to have the exact same problem, it loses power around 4500 rpms... also, it sometimes tends to choke when accelerating from a standstill. However, I am not getting any OBD errors. Can you please give me a hint what to check? As a first step and a wild guess, I am about to change the fuel filter...

Thanks.

Well, it's been about 2 minutes since I returned from a test drive after cleaning the MAF sensor.

The car seems to have gained 50 BHP!!! :yahoo::thumbsup::rolleyes:

I wish I had taken pictures 'before' and 'after', because what I saw inside once I have taken the sensor out was some kind of black clot - I couldn't guess exactly how much of it was dirt and how much was the wire itself ... I sprayed a bit of the carb cleaner inside and noticed that it got noticably smaller... so I kept spraying and revealed a really tiny wire  - the thing was originally about two times thicker, just covered with deposits.

So, GIDDLEPIN, thanks a 10^6 for this wonderful tip!!
