Replacement Key

Hi,

I need a replacement key, not one with the central locking bit on it, just the standard manual locking version. Will i have tio go to Toyota for this or can Timpsons give me one if i provide id etc.

I would imagine only Toyota could do a replacement key as it has a chip in it to start the car I think. This is obviously quite specialised. I think you will need the code that came on the orginal set of keys to make the key up too. With my keys it was a little bit of grey plastic that came on one of the key rings (though I have central locking). I would be interested to hear how much it costs if you don't mind posting once you know.

A friend's replacement key for his Ford Feista was something crazy like £70 and this was a G reg (and without central locking)!

It does need to be coded to your car, it will cost you in the region of £55, cheaper than losing your keys and not having a spare, you dont want to go there

The car needs to be set to accept the chip in the new key doesn't it?

Or is the chip in a new key from Toyota programmed the same as the original ones???

Bought my Black ex-demo from local Toyota dealer in MK in August. came with only one key. When i queried this the dealer told me that Aygos now only come with one key. Did n't have a tag with the number on it either !

The key has a chip in it, the chip is in effect a blank chip, the key is then coded to the car. They come with two keys from new, if the car was a demo, I think you will find they have lost the second key, get a new one, if you lose the only key you have you are in deep financial trouble!
