4 Wheel Caravan For Ravers

Ye'll have seen that ah have a 4 wheel, twin axle caravan. Refurbd wi new suspension and brake units and a locking coupling. And a 10m telescopic mast fitted which is carefully poked through the top skylight.

I installed a bigger generator last week and this coming week, will re-wire the existing metal halide lights from a 1000w lamp and 2 400w lamps to 1 x 1000w lamp and 5 x 400w lamps. All of this to provide lighting for a group of guys who practice rugby in the local deprived area so they don't have to pay for a floodlit plastic pitch at £60 an hour!!

I'm wondering if ma caravan is unique amongst RAV owners??

Anyone like a photo??

Yer mad haggis eating whisky swilling nutter frae Fife in Scotland but living in or aboot Lanarkshire. :D :D

Although you are obviously out of your mind (and I mean that in the nicest possible way), you are of sound character and I honestly have the utmost regard for you especially when you will apply yourself to such a worthy cause and knowing from past posts that you are not as mobile as you used to be. You must take this as very sincere.

TOP MAN bothy and I would love to see your photos.

Now if we could just eject that utterly raving mad Scot out of 10 Downing St and get bothy in.....

Oh but, just a minute......

Doh.

Will do photos today.

I tried politics, but if charlie kennedy got chucked out for little reason other than enjoying a swallie noo and again, then I've no chance....besides there's too much politics in politics now.

Driving this morning and saw a compact 200KW generator on a trailer - almost followed the guy to ask how much?? However, the caravan is at the limit regarding structural stability so I had to calm down.

will post photos soon,

Ian

Now there's an idea..... a second hand nuclear engine from one of the redundant submarines - they keep them up here at Faslane anyway. Can but ask....the glow might even add some more light!

Well here follows an attempt to link to where some photos are....

Caravan1

caravan2

these pictures are 2Mb each

another big one to give the detail of a madman at work

more

2nd last

lastly

With a bit of luck I've inserted the links with the right spelling. You'll see the delivery from RS of some cable to allow me to replace the existing multiple cables with 1 multi-core cable which will allow me to wire up 6 floods. The big 1 is 1000watts. All the control gear is inside the caravan to lighten the mast load.

Another job is to extend the exhaust outside so we can avoid the scuba diving kit when switching the stuff on!

The door damage came from removal of the frame to insert the generator. Entry by window only - well saves fixing the lock??!!

I hasten to add that the internal electrics are all being re-done as well!!

Now off to get some photos of the RAV4 custom exhaust whilst its up getting its clutch sorted and the gearbox dropped 0- ouch!

Like the distressed look of the caravan...do they use it as a wedge to drive across the field sometimes.......

Just need a Batman cut out to place over the lights and point it upwards in the sky........ (nearest looking smiley I could find) or TOC logo

Its like whacky races - ingenious inventor Pat Pending at work!

If you run a plastic tube up the mast you could use it as a snorkel then you could watch the game from the inside. You might need goggles to stop your eyes from running though:crybaby:

I bet RS Components are your new best friend!

By the way I liked old Kennedy at least he was human - its normal to sweat and tremble when there are 900 TV cameras looking at you. My mate was a conductor on that line that goes from Ipswich to Liverpool St and he had to <the spuds of lurrrrvve> (hey this over here <--- is what automatically happens if you try to put the thing that rhymes with rollocked in - I never heard them called that before!) him most nights for smoking out of the Buffet car window. In the end he got fed up and left him to it!

You haven't tried creating a monster yet then? (apart from that RAV).

Gies a chance (give me a chance)

On Guy Fawkes night I emptied the caravan of all the junk - cushions/spare bits that didn't seem to be needed and burnt them. You should have seen the cushions go up in flames!!

I'm hesitant to remove anymore of the partitions as I don't know what holds the whole thing together!! A bit like some Victorian roofs.

The next trick is to rewire the 240volt stuff and also the 12 volt stuff, so that even the trailer lights work. I reckon its going to be safer planting a yellow (blue??) rotating light on top of the caravan. As it means working outside, I use propane cylinders and a space heater to keep the carpal tunnel syndrome at bay!! As long as the caravan doesn't ignite which is unlikely as its quite wet.

Good old RS components. There's more than a few times they have helped me out of a problem.

I'll need to swap the high tensile bolts on the coupling as they are 8mm and they should be 10mm. OK with the propane van but when the RAV comes back, we could face the prospect of the coupling parting from the caravan.....

I got some good photos of the RAV today and will upload them. Its up on a ramp getting the gearbox out to see whats happened to the clutch. However, it was good to see the excellent condition that the front subframe assembly was in after 13 years.

Now I've got a spare set of 16" alloys for the RAV, I might need to buy another one just to get the use out of them.....

yer man,
