I'm taking my T-Sport to a garage on Saturday for a re-map.

The guy doesn't know if he can do anything with it.

Has anyone else had their T-Sport Re-mapped???

Hiya guys i went to the local tuning center yesterday and was asking about what can be done and they said they couldnt remap the t sport. That said it dont mean it cant be done by some one somewhere.

Sadly it's not possible. Toyota can flash your ECU, but only with maps they have.

You can get either a Dastek Piggy back unit, but this is short-term until the ECU knows it's there and then goes into 'Limp Home Mode' OR

Apexi PowerFC which is a replacement and custom mappable ECU. Expect to pay anything upto £1000 for supply, fit and mapping to your car.

HTH :)

Forgive the stupid question, but exactly what can be expected from a ecu re-map?

Are we talking lots more torque and bhp? or more power in the low revs?

I sort of understand what the apexi does, but if a t-sport can be re-mapped using existing parts and nothing added then thats a fantastic way to get more power?

cheers

Depends on your ECU. Lets assume the boggo Toyota ECU is mappable, this means you can customise your map for your car, e.g. you have ported the inlets/fitted bigger valves/Decent CAI/Exhaust so you can tweak the ECU to take advantage of these mods fully.

Any mapping would need to be done with a wideband lamda to make sure the fuelling is spot on and no weak area's, nor do you want to over-fuel really.

As the toyota ecu isnt mappable by anyone other than Mr T, the only routes are Dastek which fools the toyota ECU a little or a replacement programmable ecu such as the apexi, where you can customise everything from ignition advance to when the lift cuts in.

Essentially you are on the right lines. You wont make too much more bhp or torque on a NASP, but you could get it to be more responsive at lower revs.

Very informative, thank you  I thought there may have been a real cheap way to gain extra power with just a Mr T special re-map, but i guess i was wrong. lol. If i go down the route of doing those extra mods you mentioned, i would most probably go for the apexi to take full advantage of all the mods. But thats when it starts getting rather expensive. What with petrol prices rising all the time, it's gonna be expensive just to drive a modified car let alone mod it even further.

Cheers

You got it...Also - say if you map your car on 98RON, you would always need to use that, as unlike the compressors, an Apexi wont have a limp home mode AFAIK.

We have a Motorsport department and they do apexi stuff and re-maps, but they cant do Toyota's!

They are looking at options but don't hold your breath

They have sort of slipped into a niche Mazda Rotary market and can really make those things shift, they are booked up till after Christmas too, very busy boys

Kingo

dont see y it cnt be done, the CTR has a similar thing called K-pro which costs quite alot at 800 pounds i think, so v-tecs engines can be done. i guess tuners dont see a market for it.

My Compressor apparently had a remap at the dealers once.

When I checked with TTE they stated that no remap or update was available.

It seems that the dealer simply reflashed the ECU, putting it back to the factory settings ;)

K-PRO is made by Hondata which is another make of aftermarket ECU's. KPRO is specifically for the K-20 engine as found in EP3 CTR or DC5 Integra, etc.

I'm the same i contacted TTE direct before my compressor went in for its 1st year service, and was told that there is no remap available for the compressor. Thought I'd check before i looked silly in the dealership
