just run car down the road wife said a knocking on the back .sure enough there was got back in the driveway noticed a big patch of oil on floor where the back wheel would normaly stop so had a look under car and drivers side rear shocker has leaked all its oil out so will have to have a trip to mr t .need to get the gearbox checked anyway crunching in third gear when it cold .whats the chances of them sorting the gearbox out a lot less chance than sorting the shocker i bet. :(

Hoover had one of his rear struts leak on his Compressor too :o

They had to back order the replacements as they were not normal stock

All the Compressors are still covered by warranty luckily as I believe the struts are really expensive ;)

When mine goes in for the next service I will tell them to check my struts.

Should I be worried as when I had my MOT in October I was given a warning that my front off side Shock Absorber had a light misting of oil on it. Does this mean its time to replace the shock?

yes should be under warranty booked it in for wednesday .got paint thickness checked at where i work today before i go in on wednesday and the lads in the paint shop said its within its specs 135 micro,s or something but volkswagons are painted to 185 micro,s.so obviously toyota are a bit tight with the thickness of paint they put on .

car in with mr t checked the gearbox out while in for shocker and confirmed fault with crunching in third gear .said theirs an issue with 3 rd gear snycro so if i want they will put a new third gear in and a new syncro but they said it might not sort it out as some are cured by replaceing these and some arnt.so told them replace as its not acceptable as it is .

thats good to hear as my third gear is the same. i have had 2 modded clutches and modded master cylinder which rectifies some of the common probs but my local mr t were not keen to take box out for strip down. do you have probs selecting second - more noticible when cold? me thinks synchro in second is problem too? i was like you and didnt let them fob me off with certain issues like the squeeky clutch and noise on overrun but the gearbox has been a bit of a sticking point - no pun intended but very apt! it seems when you take your car in and you dont know what is causing the prob nothing happens? Can anyone here recommend a good dealer in the north west as my local dealer damaged me car last time and it aint the first time i have found there work shoddy or charging for work not done. i just need somewhere decent for warranty work without the usual hassle & worry, any recs grately recieved.

never had any problems with second gear but had taken car in previously for gearbox fault with third gear crunching and they told me it was charasteristic to the vehicle so this time when i took it in it was worse so i wasn,t prepared to let it go this time .anyway they have confirmed it now so lets hope everything gets put back together right.

My second gear crunches and I have trouble selecting gears at high revs so hopefully that will be sorted at the next service ;)

i did have a few selection probs but this was sorted with new shift cables - my t sport is the original but they modded the cables on the facelift which i had changed under warranty.

last time i picked my car from lindops they had damaged my car and refuse to put right! the usually use the plastic cover below the windscreen as a tool and parts holder which scratches that up nicely! in alot of garages you notice wing protecters being used - not at my local toyota. then - best is they test drive your car in greasy clothes then sit on my leather with no seat covers. i could understand if i fetched them a dirty car to work on - but i make the point of making sure the car is spotless before it goes to a garage. revenge will be sweet!

ps it the gear change sorted now?

they did wash and vac it but was a rush job so some scratches are because they didn.t rinse the grit and muck first just rubbed the grit into the paint and being a car that the paint is thin not the best idea :(

Ah, I see.

I did have my car serviced in Leicester once (can't remember the dealers name as I was only working up there at the time) and although the car was shiny when I got it back there were tiny scratches on the tailgate which looked like it may have come from an automatic car wash :(

funny thing was i said to the wife it looked like it had been through a car wash because of the marks .

I just wish that instead of rushing, and doing 20 thing's wrong. Why don't they slow down and do 10 thing's right.

I mean how hard is it to wash a custom's car ;)

HOOVER

car back in at mr t tomorrow for rear shocker and to sort out paint scratches from last visit.oh and gears are crunching again seemed to improve when fisrt drove car but no different now .oh and got a rattle, vibration now on acceleration and deceleration.had this prevouisly and told them it sounded like vibration through exhaust but they were convinced it was the supercharger so they replaced that. oh and then fixed the exhaust to cure the noise. :(

got the car back shocker all done .wife picked the car up and was getting a real negative attitude because they had to sort the bumper out said it hadn,t been a very good spray job on the bumper anyway ,what has that to do with them scratching it in the first place we were happy with it till it was scratched by them where does all this attitude come from after all i didn,t scratch it in the first place .oh and regards to the gears said there fine can,t fault them so watch this space we will see how it goes as they said see how it developes.got to go back in for the exhaust theres a splitter in the front pipe thats rattling like mad so theyv,e ordered the part.
