On the way home last night, in 3rd gear, i put the foot down, at about 5-6000 rpm the car had a very noticeable power stutter, so i slowed down and tried it again, same thing, except it got a little more violent... any ideas what is wrong guys??

oil/water all ok... since ive bought the car i have done 12,000miles and all i have changed is the oil twice... could it mean the spark plugs need changed and points??

please help...

Thanks, gt4wrc

yeah the points and condensor will need changing. ;)

on a more serious note - if its electrical , could be spark plug , lead , dizzy cap , rotor , could be a fueling issue .

have it tuned , im sure the problem will replicate itself on a diagnostic tune .

check for fault codes, sounds like it's missfired up in the higher rev's, is there any modifications from standard spec, with the colder weather it could have been a boost spike so fuel cut may have kicked in

Whats the condensor Booster?? cheers...

Also today i checked engine and on the manifold cover, the vents had a carbon resedue on them, NEVER had that before, i like to keep a good clean engine bay.... so is the manifold leaking in your opinion? sounded a bit tank-like on initial start up at manifold!!! but then subsided!!

sounds kind off like the manifold gaskets, they can be a bit tempremental, i know a few people that have went through a few sets before eventually getting it to seal again
