Not for sounding stupid, but didn't you get them when you brought the car.

How can you prove it's your's then, if the police stop you for example

Don't you need it for insurance/car tax purposes

The reg. cert wasnt given to the previous owner by the person he bought it off. he just gave him a 'form of export' which was all he need to put the car in his name, now i have lost that so im looking for the original reg. cert so i can put it in my name???

problem is they can't issue a 'form of export' to a person outside the UK!! I've already tried this!

I rang up the DVLA today and they just said to ask the registration authority here in Ireland if they'll accept any other documents! They also gave me another number of a person higher up in the DVLA to ring back on Monday to see can they help me!!

If it was stolen the DVLA would have told me as it would have been on their system!!
