Ts Alarm And Central Locking Problems

Afternoon Techies.

This is driving me mad.....

I have a P1 2001 TS and a few weeks ago my remote key would not open the central locking when i pressed the button. I immediatly changed the Battery which i now have a red light on the fob when pressed, but would still not open the door.

I went back to the car next day and found it now worked fine and has done so ever since..... until today.

I used it last night and now in the morning it does not work again. I have tried the spare set, still no good. I can unlock the car by key but the alarm sounds when i get in. The red light is flashing by the handbrake and every time i open any door it sounds and red light remains on. Even drove it and it sounds.

Have you ever seen that film about that car that has a life of its own....

Anyone help as i need to drive it and get back to normality, and the neighbours are well fed up.

:(

Sounds like something that we have spoken about on here before,

It happened to me at pod and others have had it happen too.

if i remember right, someone in your area may be using some equipment that is blocking the signal,

using similar radio waves.

Yeah i agree with kimi, theres a certain area where i park my car where the central locking doesnt work, but works fine everywhere else

Maybe

But if i could silence the alarm i may be able to drive somewhere different to check it out.

As far as i am aware, no one round here has any equipmment which would block the signal.

I have just found a post that is saying that the main fuse may get corroded and will prevent the locking from working?????

I had this problem at new year, something is running at the same frequency as the alarm and central locking so it won't open.

I even took it to toyota at the time as I thought there may be a problem, but everything was fine.

If it happens on a regular basis I was advised to by toyota to call the environmental agency and they'll pop out and find out what's causing it.

there are tons of things that will affect it.

Well i have eventually cracked it thanks to all the techies on here.

Disconnected the Battery.

Took out Number 7 fuse, Dome Type that is 15A. The fuse itself was corroded so i got a replacement one.

Cleaned up the contacts in the box where the fuse sits in and added some contact cleaner just to help.

Plugged it all in, connected the Battery and it was a little bit screwed from there. The Lights flashed frantically and alarm didi not go off untill i started the car. If i sat in it, the alarm would not go off, if i opened a dor....woooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

Drove it up and down the road and after 30 secs the alarm stopped but alarm indicator light stayed on.

Drove it to the dealer who first checked batterys were ok, then the re aligned the keys to the car (both main and spare).

Does anyone know how they do that bit of Paul Daniels Magic

Anyway bingo it is now fantastic.

I asked them what may have screwed it up....they said possible atmospheric conditions, maybe interference, maybe dodgy weather conditions.....Yeah right.

Anyway its all ok now

Thanks everyone.....
