Master Clutch Cylinder

Hi guys,

glad I came across this forum. I have a 1988 Corolla GL 1.2 and have a problem with my clutch cylinder. My clutch pedal has no resistance when pressed and therefore can not change gear. I have had a look round and I can see a fluid leak coming from the inside seal near to where the pedal is attached in the car. I have bled the system for air and I am confident there is no air in the system, the clutch seems to be ok as when I put the car into gear with the engine off and turn the key it jerks forward. My question is do I have to by a clutch master cylinder repair kit or will I have to by the whole cylinder?

Any help would be great,

TYIA

Best Regards

Craig

Edit: I meant to say it was 1988 Corolla GL 1.3

I wouldn't bother with the repair kit.

The cylinder will be scored, and the new piston/seals will only last about a year or so, and then you'll be back to square one.

It's better to get a new master cylinder.

Quite often, the slave cylinder will also give up, shortly afterwards.
