How Many Is *too* Many Badges. Opinions Please?

I've got a TTE grill to go on my car in the next few days.

One question, It came with a TTE grill Badge, I would like to keep my T-sport Badge on the front, and am thinking of having the TTE one mounted too.

Would this look too good or crowded/untidy or just stupid? I don't usually like badges, but in this case i feel the t-sport should remain, and as the car has quite a few TTE bits that would be justifiable too?

Any opinions and pictures of what others have done also would be nice.

Cheers

It's all down to personal preference mate.

I'd just have one Badge, but if had TTE on the front i'd have to change the T Sport Badge on the back!

If you 've got the grille try it with both badges before you fit, that'll give you a better idea of what it would look like.

I'd love to completely debadge it like i did to my pug106 and my other two mercs but that little t-sport Badge is the only thing that keeps my car from blending in with all the OAP's round here in their Corollas. LOL.

I guess i'll have to try it and see, only a few bolts to undo.

I've thought about debadging the back, just the big T logo, but can't figure out how to mask that area after, as the boot lid is raised a fair bit where the T logo sits. So would look very odd with no Badge. But the front will have no big T logo, so want to level out the back too.

My personal opinion is either 1 or none, but it is exactly that, personal. We have differing opinions on shiny red callipers but I don't hold that against you ;)

i would stick with the tsport Badge only, if i had a compresor then maybe the tte Badge would go well.

bit off topic here but what is TRD ? their is a rolla TRD round my way, the TRD letters are fairly big both on front and back of car, it looks fairly sporty but it is a driving instructors car. (i would have loved to have learned to drive in a rolla instead of a corsa lol)

Yeah i know, but leaving the calipers the way they are doesnt look tidy. Maybe banana yellow calipers? Just can't decide. lol.

TRD is Toyota Race Development (Toyta Race Motorsport) based in Japan which is the Japanese division for all the toyota race goodies. Whereas TTE is Toyota Team Europe based in Germany which take care of all the European toyota race goodies.

Because Euro and Asian markets are slightly different they cater for different tastes and specs. Some prefer one to the another, but they compliment each other well.

A bit like AMG and Brabus for Mercedes. Different R&D departments, different products, styling etc for the same vehicles.

Thanks emsii! Thats just what was looking for. It does look slightly crowded, but i think it looks ok on your car as the badges are red and so is the car. I won't know what those two badges will look like on a darker car (carlo blue) until i try on mine. But atleast i have an idea of good mounting points.

cheers

P.S, what is that black round thing poking out of the bottom grill? just to the left and below your number plate.

We have pretty cold winters in Finland, so that's the place where the block heaters caplething goes. If you know what i mean? Seatwarmers are also nice in winter :D

I was in Lapland/Finland a couple of years ago and it seemed strange to see the cars all plugged into power points outside the hotel

Back on topic I think the two badges looks crowded, sorry ;)

Thanks for all the help guys. I think i'm going to go ahead with the same mounting points as emsii's. If it looks too crowded on a darker car i will take the TTE off and just leave the T-sport.

It shouldnt take more than 10mins to take off anyway. I've asked the bodyshop guys to fit them and gave them a print out of emsii's setup. If it doesn't look good i'll get them to take it off when i go to pick up the car end of this week. Can't wait to get it back. :yahoo:

Hmm, i dunno, that may just look plain odd. :D

I will def post some pics up, i've been too embarresed to post any up so far as the car had so many scratches, the door had been opened into a wall so there was a huge bend in that, the other side had bigger dents, just didn't look smart at all. Plus rear ended damage. <sigh>. And i hope my sister doesn't see/read this but one area of the car had been got at with a scouring pad... unbelivable.. Sis had decided that a bit of bird poo was too difficult to wash off, and decided to scrub the paintwork with the metal scouring pad.. :o

Well that was ok i guess as she did that when she owned it, but still, metal scouring pad on a car?!

Hey mister popular, could you empty your inbox please, I'd like to send you a message ;)

And just so I don't get shouted at ummm.... I'd say if you were intent on keeping the TS Badge, then drop the TTE one because with the new grille you are debadging the front, then you'll be rebadging it again with lots of little red logos :P

LOL, sorry, just cleaned out the inbox. I'm more interested getting the big T (toyota) logo's off. The smaller badges still retain abit of 'road presence' given the car is abit too understated as it is. I had a last minute change of heart and decided not to get my engine cover, heatshield and fusebox cover painted as the bodyshop guy was adamant that it would start to peel after a while as it gets very hot under the bonnet. Did you say you saw pre-painted engine covers somewhere before? Or was it just the heatshield?

If the paint starts to peel then it can't be redone so would have to buy a new cover, heatshield and fusebox cover. Also need to find a way to 'clean' up the manifold as it looks like the paint/finish on that is not very good. So have to rethink about what i'm doing under the hood. Also must make sure whatever i do the heatshield boxed off area i will have fabricated will match the rest.

My end vision is to have a very smart looking car, but not tokyo drift style overdone.

Cheers

The only engine dress bits I've seen like that are aluminium heatshields for the front of the bonnet (above the radiator), and they were from c-one. They were either silver or blue (so either wuld match the cusco strut).

Ah thanks, i will google around and see what the prices are. I wouldn't mind an almost completely chrome engine bay, well most of it anyway.

Does anyone know if it's possible to chrome plastic? Like the engine cover for example and would it be better than normal paint?

Cheers
