0% Finance On Yaris

Thanks to AlexM and Parts King for advice on new Yaris D-4D a few days ago.

I went to the dealer after an overnight test drive in D-4D SR Yaris. Basically asked them for a price with and without 0% finance so I could see if i was better off paying cash or by 0% finance. The dealer said it was illegal to give us separate figures as the cash price also has to be the finance price by law. They also wouldnt quote me anything other than list + options based on 0% over 3 years with 30% deposit.

I am confused and somewhat disheartened by the process. I know to expect too much of a (if any) discount with 0% finance is unlikely but I can't understand why if my preference were to pay cash they can't quote me a figure for comparison. Of course we test drove the SR with all the toys, climate and smart entry (nice :D ) etc on it, but am I being a bit tight in thinking a bit of discount with 0% is possible?

Dealer said I need to go back to them with the best price I can get as they really want my business and knows he can beat any deal I am quoted. Am off on hols this week and return 16/12 leaving about a week to try and close a deal to ensure the finance .

Dealer also said they have stopped production of all diesels in France ready to start up again in January therefore delivery on any yaris d-4d is February on BUT there is a rumour that as so many people have criticised the extra £1000 for the SR over the TR when apart from the alloys and spoiler it looks the same, changes might be made to the SR. He said something about a frozen price deal ie I order at x agreed price, Toyota change the spec to who knows what and up the price but I get the new spec at the old agreed price. Surely on ordering any new car its reasonable to know EXACTLY how it looks (rumour is it might be a revised front end a bit like the 1.8) and every detail of specification?

Thanks for reading all, any advice gratefully received, am waiting on quotes from Askaprice.com, any views or experiences of them?

Andy

I can't help you out but if they did make the diesel look like the 1.8SR I would go out and buy one tomorrow.

I can't remember how many years later they brought out the face lift for the previous yaris but if somebody know if they are updating the style then please let us know ;)

I hope they are - although I have been looking at the Corsa

Did you quote broadspeeds price? Broadspeed were the cheapest broker I found. Remember these are real prices agreed in principle with Toyota dealers and you pay the dealers, not the site. The site gets a fee from the selling dealer.

It is illegal to offer a cheaper cash price, so I suspect they are being hard nosed since they know you will take the 0% deal. On that basis ring around a few dealers to get some prices (without mentioning how you want to pay for it) then tell the best one you want the 0% finance deal.

They may say that the 0% finance deal is only for RRP paying customers, but the standard high interest deal is avaialble to customers asking for discounts?

Thanks to you both for replies.

ALEX, BJW problem we have is we are away for a few weeks, leaving only in effect one week when we get back to try and secure the 0% deal and I don't want to be held to ransom over it. If the discount we can get via Broadspeed or Carfile is sufficient to offset the lost interest on our dough then our preference is to make a clean deal and pay the lot, no paperwork or payments to sort out for 3 years. Still waiting on askaprice but their site lists SR at £11406 whereas Carfile is showing £11060 odd, awesome. Didnt quote any prices at our dealer as he just said no to a "cash" price and we hadnt had any quotes with 0% finance elsewhere.

BJW, would you mind if i sent you a pm re carfile and your experience with them please?

Thanks again you two

Andy

I can see some point to that but you want to know two deals, option 1, 0% deal and option 2 the cash price, no conflict there, he is messing with you and if he cant give you the prices, go somewhere where they can. One word of warning, the 0% deal will not be around too long

I have to be harsh here, you wont get everything, you cant buy a car with discount AND 0% finance. The 0% is funded by the dealer and Toyota, you wont get both. get a cash price from somebody and the 0% price elsewhere

Tell him to shove his best price theory, why should you go back to him, only for him to chip another £50 off, tell him you want the best deal now or you will walk. Do you want a price from us? We deliver anywhere in the UK, let me know when you get back

Sorry to disagree with you parts king on this one when I used carfile any deals that Toyota were offering was also available to me !! its a tough old time out there for dealers at the moment and as I have said before its always the cost to change that matters !!!I know you work in the trade but after spending many years trying to grind dealers down on there prices you get an instinct for a deal

I have joined this thread a bit late but don't forget the smaller the car the less money the dealer will have in the car to barter.

One last point a car that is registered in December 2007 will be worth less at trade in time than a Jan 2008 car but also your part exchange may have gone down a bit you have to look at it closely

If the car does not come until February you may be better getting it registered in march( new reg letter)

On a final point to get a feel of things phone a few dealers and ask what the best price they can do it for with no part exchange with the interest free credit you then will get some idea if they will do a deal then spring your part exchange on them

Also try and get a full tank of fuel and make sure it has a years car tax on it
