Hi I have just joined the club.

I have a 2000 Celica so the new shape, had it from new as a grey import and racked up a tidy 140,000 miles so far.

So far we have had a new wheel bearing on the left front and numerous sets of tyres.

In the last few days a heat plate has dropped off the back of the car which I am guessing came from the back part of the exhaust but as yet have not found a site where I can see an underside picture so I can see to fit it back on.

I too have the 3rd gear crunch problem when cold. I have changed the gear oil but to no avail so I live with it for the moment.

Tracking is a constant pain and as yet I have not found a garage who will let me pay a fixed price for the year whihc would seem a decent offer as most drivers will not use it as frequently as maybe a Celica driver. There is a thought for you garge owners out there.

Does anyone know of a good Celica enthusiast/garage around the Nottingham, Derby, Leicester area?

I look forward to joining some of the other forums soons

Cheers

Mike

Welcome Mike,

Good to see another member in the area; there are quite a few of us now.

Ask Toyauto who are now at new premises in Hucknall. I think their main forte is 3-SG(T)E stuff like the earlier Celicas and MR2s, particularly the GT4, but I'm sure it's worth asking them about the Gen 7 too. A search on TOC or t'internet should find their number easily; I don't think it changed when they moved.

If you don't get any joy there, I can highly recommend my local Mr T which is Ron Brooks in Mansfield. They also have a place in Derby, but I've not used it. Excellent service and friendly staff who are always willing to help. I never take my GT4 there as their rates are of course higher than Toyauto and I think Mr T tends not to be so good with older cars, but otherwise I think they're far better than the dealers in Nottingham itself. That said, I noticed on MOTD the other day that they sponsor Derby County, so I may be boycotting them in future ;)

HTH,

Tony
