I Want To Buy A Gt-four

Hi, im new here and basically i want to know from current owners of GT-fours ( the 1994> model) what are they like to own, reliablity practicality, handling, and performance. I have almost made my mind up on what car i want to buy ( its either betwen a gt-four, a skyline r33 gts-t, a nissan silvia (200sx) or a bmw e36 me..

would you pick a gt-four over any of them choices

love mine to bits!!! handling is OUTSTANDING havent drove a car like it!! having said that ive never drove a skyline but i was driving my uncles porshe 911 last week and i know it has a quality sound track but that handling was no where near the gt4's standard!!

with a little work u can be sittin at 300bhp very easily. things to look out on tho: fig 8 bushes and super strut suspension (tend to go about 70k) they cant cost a 4tune! rear dif mount tends to go also. u need to look out for these when buying.

ive had problems with mine lately but generally its a toyota and runs for ever!!

wudnt avice on the nissan 200sx, dont put up much of a fight against a gt four

I would have my GT-Four over all the below.

Deffo against the Skyline GTS-T. If you want a skyline you should be aiming for a GTR and no less, the lower spec cars aren't a patch on the Four handling wise.

M3 is a nice car but again I rather have the four, and against an E36 you'd have it from rolling start and handling stakes. E36 would probably have it off the line in the dry as you'll be lagging from the 4WD. In the wet you'll anialate 'em.

200SX now that a very popular choice with the drift boys, very tunable with a huge amount of parts avaliable plus you can always upgrade to the GTR engine... ;) . Again though the 4WD has it in the handling stakes.

Personally the only cars I'd consider swapping for the four are:

Escort Cosworth(Large Turbo)

Evo6

R34 GTR V-Spec

But that's just my opinion, and something would need to go very wrong with the four for me to consider getting rid of it.

97,000 miles in and it's still as sweet as a nut and on the original engine and turbo.

I've only had mine for a month and a half and its f**king awesome! Granted my previous was a 1.3L Skoda but the gt4 is still great to own by any standard. It can be (fairly) practical to own. I think I'm averaging somewhere in the mid 20s as far as mpg goes. I recently took it on a 400 mile round trip (about 50 miles good A-roads, 50 winding country A-roads and 300 miles Motorway)and managed to squeeze about 32-34 mpg out of it largely by resisting the urge to floor it and have the turbo kick in, but damn you just can't resist on those winding countryside A-roads.

When I'm having fun with the turbo the mpg drops to around 15-20, but its worth it for the smile on your face. it also sticks to the road like sh*t on a terry-cloth nappy! you really couldn't beat it with a big stick!

I looked at a few others before going for the gt4 (200sx, GTO, FTO, Skyline and Supra), the only one for me that edged it was the Supra, but I went for the gt4 as i figured jumping from a 1.3L Skoda to a 3L turbo Supra might have killed me!. I'd intended to keep the gt4 for a bit then upgrade to the supra. However, I'm loving the gt4 so much I might hold on to it for a good bit longer. The gt4, it has it all really. Toyota reliability, awesome power and punch from the turbo and great handling. If you get one, try and get one with a recent cambelt and clutch change if you can, as these are expensive to replace

The Skyline is a cruiser, its a great car but not the single turbo version. To 60 they are sluggish. 200sx just dont have the power or presence on th road.

The 4 are better handling wise and the WRC can keep up with a E46 m3, well mine can. Its standard apart from a straight through exhaust and HKS filter. All I run it on is V power.

The 4 wins for me, but then again i could be biased.
