Avensis 1.8 vvti gs 2001

I have had a avensis for about one month. I have noticed when driving at night when I brake or turn on the indicators or any other elecrical equipment my dash and headlight dim for a second or too or when its my indicators they dim after every flash.. I also had a squeeking noise(which I have now solved) from the alternator area could the alternator be my problem.

Could be the alternator..

not putting enough power out..

OR

it could be the squeak was the alternator pully which has not been pulled tight.

Hi there had same snag and I posted it only a few minutes ago. Mine is a 2006 avensis. I might check belt too but I think that it is something else.
