Intermittent Failure On Radio Broadcasts In Wet Weather

Its been raining here in Glasgow as hard as it was when Scotland were playing Italy. Now, I listened to that game on the radio and it said the Spanish referee had given a soft/wrong free kick to Italy - the World Champions.

Tonight, with my fairly new radio that I have in the RAV sourced from Hong Kong, again the rain here was very heavy. The reception I got indicated England Football Team got a soft penalty by a Nokia referee (don't believe everything you hear on the BBC) and then there was a kind of hush then I got reception back.

However, could one of you guys in England tell me what the eventual game result was please??? I think water got into the electrics cos my electric mirrors aren't working.

Thanks

Bothy :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo::thumbsup: :thumbsup: :lol: :lol: :D :D :D :D :D

ps it said on the news that the Wembley pitch was in a dreadful state following American football. I thought they only played tennis at wembley.

I lost interest after the 5th goal :censor: :censor: and through the tears and anger and much swearing at the goalie :ffs: :ffs: (hope he cant sleep for weeks and feels every bit of pain) left the room to stand in the cold for a while..........

Looks like we will be in the pub with all the Scottish and Irish fans next year watching darts on the telly :crybaby: :crybaby: :crybaby: :crybaby: :crybaby:

Anchorman my Irish mates have come back with a quote to fix the hole in the wall....cost us a couple of crates of Guinness.....not too worry they said...we've sourced some bricks for ya.....

Gosh!! A FIFTH goal?? From your tone, it seems that ENGLAND lost?? Surely not?! Wot on earth are we all going to do during the European Championships whilst BBC show repeats of World Cup year 1966??? Just a minute while I dry my eyes.....................................................

I'll need to take a look at this temperamental fuse in the morning when I've sobered up....! :shutit: :shutit:

it said on the news that the Wembley pitch was in a dreadful state following American football.

I hope the England player's and management, the FA and the Wembley owner's don't blame the American Football for the poor state of the pitch and the subsequent result last night.

That American Football game was played on the 28th of October, three and a half weeks ago! If the Wembley groundstaff cannot repair a pitch in three weeks they need there backside's kicking!

The chief problem last night appeared to be very poor drainage and that can only be laid on the owner's of Wembley stadium. Whether they cut corners or sliced the budget, there is no excuse for a poorly draining pitch in this day and age. No top flight Premier League club would stand for it and they are using their pitches maybe twice a week or more, not once a month!

Oh, by the way....... GO BRONCO'S :yahoo:

Listen fellas I'm afraid I don't do fitba

All I know is that you have to shout a lot of bad language at that chap in the black shirt and when it's offside in fact everything is still in the middle.

Oh and Bobby Charlton works for Manchester United which I think is a bus company

Bothy. Is it the manual tune Shira Touring or did you get the posh push button one?

Bothy one for ya...from ma mates north of wall.......

TRIBUTES are being paid to Scotland this morning after the entire country laughed itself to death.

The alarm was first raised at around 10pm last night as thousands of phone calls and text messages went unanswered.

Small groups of volunteers from Berwick-Upon-Tweed and Carlisle ventured north just after midnight only to find houses full of dead people gathered around still blaring television sets.

By dawn, as RAF helicopters flew over deserted city streets, it was clear that the whole country had suffered a catastrophic abdominal rupture.

Wayne Hayes, a special constable from Northumberland, said: "We went into one house in Dunbar and found three men sitting on the sofa with huge smiles on their faces, still holding cans of 70 shilling. They seemed to be at peace."

He added: "In a house near Edinburgh we found a man face down on the living room floor with his trousers and pants round his knees.

"It seems he may have been showing his bare buttocks to the television when he keeled over."

Roy Hobbs, a civil engineer from Northampton, said: "I got a call from my friend Ian in Stirling at about 9.50pm.

"He was already laughing when I answered the phone, but after about 25 minutes of the most vigorous and uncontrollable hilarity, everything suddenly went very quiet."

Moving tributes are already being placed along the Scotland-England border with many mourners opting to leave a simple bag of chips or a deep fried bunch of flowers.

You have my deepest sympathy. I'm on earlies this week - 5.56 on, so in bed by about half nine for a 4.30 alarm

Just fell asleep on the setee and sent up here to work on spread sheets and other critical work (he he). Aparently my mouth was wide open and snoring was vibrating ornaments off the fire surround.

Life's tough when you are a train driver.

Chatman

Your story is lost on me - is it a footy thing?

good one!

It's unfortunate, but anytime England win something, we get bombarded with biased comment from the media.

During the Scotland Rugby game with (?) in the world cup, all the commentators went on about was the make up of the England team - during the actual game.

I got an apology from the TV channel as they recognised that it was inappropriate...

Pouring rain here yesterday stopped me from chasing the faulty fuse. Today, I had been hoping to get something done, but my father, who is 88; still driving and visits my mother in a local nursing home every day at 2pm arrived back at 3pm. He felt it was quicker to drive back then try to phone! He drives the Punto which had its clutch replaced at 20,000 miles. he sees no need for 3rd or 4th gear and hasn't twigged that the thing is fitted with a 5th gear as well.

Anyway, the urgent return was to get me to the Nursing Home as my mother had taken a turn for the worse...she's had alzeimhers for 7+ years and been losing weight over the past year.

Aside of this, my wife has been ill in bed with womiting and dyorheya for the past 24 hours.

Unfortunately, my mother who is almost 86 was much worse than I had imagined and she died peacefully at 6pm. A blessing in some respects possibly as we/no-one knows whether she was suffering or not as she was not able to speak or indicate pain/distress.

My father, I and 3 of my kids were there at the end and came back to the house for a blether and some dinner. My father recounted his time in Africa during the war; and his families links with the Franklins who stayed near Stevenage many years ago.

By this time, it was too late/too dark to try to locate the fuse that works the electric mirrors on the RAV and also seems to help light up some of the dashboard.

Come 10.30pm, my wife, still not well, and me in a state of confusion as per normal.... I phoned NHS 24. Now to be honest the response I got was polite, efficient, pleasant and friendly. Toyota dealers would learn a lot from some of them. Twas decided my wife has a virus which is airborne. Now, the dilemna is if its airborne, where does the plastic bag go????

The nurse at NHS24 was slightly mystified by this. Well, I said, if this thing is an airborne virus then I don't want to catch it so does the poly bag go over my wifes head or my head.

Answers ona postcard please!

The sad thing about all of this is I have spent umpteen phone calls trying to locate my young brother who works for the UN in Sudan. There's no mail system there, nor are there landline telephones and the mobile phones network was off - as it happened for only 2 hours. I even phoned the UN in nairobi who helpfully said he's in Juba in Sudan. Noo even with my RAV, the guys warned me until things settle down and get checked, they didn't want me to drive further than London so a 30 hour trip to Sudan to pick him up is out of the question - he'll need to arrange flights instead.

Or can you catch a train there????

So apologies to any of you that don't get pearls of wisdom from here over the next 2 weeks - I'll be still trying to locate the fuse apart from searching for my mothers birth certificate (after 85 years no chance), altho I do have their marriage certificate.

And somebodys nicked my rear wiper blade - Dave.M - own up!!

Ah well; I have the ashes from my pet dog who died on 22/10 so I'll be asking for a 2 for 1 deal with the undertakers....... :crybaby: :crybaby: :crybaby: :crybaby:

Ian, please accept my condolances to you and your family. You have had a god awful week by the sound of it.

As for the R Soles who pranged your fathers car, and nicked your wiper blade. Lets just hope their back axle

falls off, going round a corner, with plenty of trees around. ;)

PS, why is every body calling you a shelter ?
