Diesel Is This Normal?

I have a T3s Diesel 54 tourer & never had a diesel before.

My question is it starts all ok bit noisy but it stays noisy for about 10 mins then especially if you start to floor it it goes quiet then & you get a sort of power surge & then it sounds just like a normal petrol engine on say cruising at 50 mph is this normal??

Cheers

hi

Please advise whether it is equiped with comon rail or normal diesel? Normally the diesel is started as a bit noisy when it is cool. But once heated it becomes quite. It is understood it depens on the air temperature sucted into the cylinder/s. But in case the fuel valves nozzles are worn down then the engine remains a bit noisy due to the nozzle needle does not shut off jet or otherwise no sharp spray is available in each cylinder. When you accelerate the engine -- you may not hear noise and i presume you can hear noise when the engine runs as iddle. Correct? In case such occures - you have to remove all four fuel valves and check with injection quality that must be sharp, quick and no any fuel drops are admissible on the nozzle end (!) during testing.

cheers/Igor

Hi

Thanks for the reply I am not sure what rail it is maybe you can tell me what to look for? The car is still under warranty so can take it back. Also noticed today after doing a bit of round town driving the car was very sluggish in the like 4th at 2,000 revs I then got on the dual carrigeway floored it shed loads of smoke & the performance came back & i was away again. Is this normal ?

Cheers

in case your car is still covered by a guaranty then it is good chance to claim to Mr T and do not lose this chance. re common rail -- means that one HP injection pump deliver fuel in accumulating manifold under P=constant. each fuel valve mounted on the cylinder head is governed by a solenoid that gets a command from el. control timing system. in this case the HP pump has only one delivery connection. As to normal diesel -- this one is equipped with the HP injection pump that has four delivery connections to each fuel valve via respective injection pipe. And of course the construction of each fuel valve is simple with regards to maintenance. I thinks you have caught me.. OK go ahead and type if any/cheers

The D4D engines use a high pressure fuel pump, it is quite normal for the engine to be noisier when cold.

Kingo

as for being sluggishh

Sounds like you could be in the wrong gear.. (ie out of power band)

Or instead of planting your right foot down, steadliy apply the gas.

Noticed tonight had to get it up in the revs to change & if trying to pull away below 2,750 ish revs & it just does nothing? its done 75k

Cheers again for help

hello again

caught means - understood . look Mr T pretends that she does not hear people suffered from her cars minor troubles. try to push Mr T as long as you can to reach what you want. it is so difficult to reach the right person in Derbi. i know it from abroad. i have suorced their tech dept phones via secretary bubt my call was not answered at all. may be you will be lucky thanks to you live in UK. Push them to check with performance of all fuel system starting from fuel valves. also it would be better your witness there that enables you to see developments and real reason of your problem. of course i can only guuess what could happened. bubt it is unbelievable hat new car has a lot of problems. cheers/igor
