How To Identify An Engine Type And The Car Model?

I have just bought a used toyota corolla. I am finding problems when looking for spare parts because i do not know the engine type of my vehicle. Everytime i go to a dealer for spare parts, I am asked about the engine type of the vehicle e..g is it 12 Valve, 16 valve, 2Y, 3Y, etc. This is greatly confusing me as I have tried to check the engine hoping to find somewhere written these descriptions but to no avail. The car is a Toyota corolla made in 1999 in south africa. On the backside it is written 130, and am not so sure what this means. This is the first time for me to own a car and i am finding my life really frustrating.

Would you people out there help me to identify the engine/make/model of this car please!

As above. You will need to get the Frame Number AND Model code off the plate under the bonnet. South African spec cars are not usually on Toyota dealers EPC so it may be a case they have to contact Toyota to get part numbers, they wont do it without the information required

Kingo

Toyota Africa did the Corolla in 130 or 160 models. They called it the Tazz. its the same car that Holden called the Nova.

The 2E carb fed, 1.3 12 valve engine was the one for the 130. Could be wrong, but the guys at Toyota will know, from the chassis plate numbers.

Tell me the VIN number and I will decode it for you. Will give you engine, year, which plant it came from, etc.

Sorry that it has taken me a decade to reply, just that i was out of the office the past week and i could not access the internet. As per your request, the VIN number of the car is EB009020139.
