Damage To Paint Work By Stone Chips !

Hello All,

I little background...

I bought a toyota corolla 1.4VVTi privately 6 months ago. The car is only 2.5 years old ! and thus still under warranty.

It had asmall patch (about 5cmx3cm) where the paint had come off, the patch is on the bonnet, just above the headlights.

Anyway i took it to my toyota dealer and after looking at it for about 2 hours they got back to me saying it was caused by a stone chip ! ( a very big stone U must be thinking !)

Their explanation was that a stone chip caused the paint work to comeoff then some water got under the paintwork and paint had been peeled off (?)

and stone chip damage is not covered by warranty !

They asked me to make an appointment with BODYSHOP centre and take an estimate and ask them the cause !

My question is has anyone experienced this !

I am very suprised it would happen to a new car as much as it has !

Your comments please.

Regards

Bash.

I have never seen that ever.... but that doesn't mean they are lying...

I would have thought a properly painted car that would not happen, but if the stone chipped a place where there had been a slight grease mark that had been painted over, maybe the paint would lift off more???
