are you just topping the oil up or doing a oil change?

Is topping up oil different to re-filling oil then?

yes - if you topping up you are replacing oil used between services and you must add the same oil as already in car. if you changing oil you can then use what you deem best. some peoples post worry me!

Thanks marty. I was going to just top it up, but decided a full oil/filter change would be best anyway.

probly a good idea, make sureu keep a regular check on the oil cos these engines use bit more than normal, Mobil 1 is the most expensive but its the best im reliably informed

gona have to phone them up again and ask. I suppose this oil wont do it no harm though.

2zz-ge (190) will take both 5-30 and 10-40 but wouldn't mix them find out whats already in there,

think the 5-30 just works better in colder temperatures. Also as someone mensioned earlier i use and would recommend the Mobil 1 (15-30) stuff

If money is no object, use a Fully Synthetic 5W/40. Halfords own brand is supplied by Comma and will be fine.

10W/40 Semi is OK, the only slight downside is that in very cold Winter temperatures, it will take a little longer to circulate and protect on initial start up on a cold Engine.

My preference is Millers XSS 5W/30 Semi, I pay £13.80 for 5 litres from Jeff Smith Oils (add £7 for postage). I'd also recommend only using a genuine Toyota Oil Filter.

HTH.
