Engine Vibration And Noise Over About 2500rpm

I have just purchased a 2002 Corolla Verso T Spirit 1.8VVTI and have just noticed that there is a noticable engine noise and vibration when it reaches 2500 to 3000 rpm in all gears. Does anyone know if this is a characteristic of these engines or do I have a problem that needs to be fixed? I haven't yet taken it on a motorway to see what it is like at higher rpms.

Hi,

I have noticed also a similar vibration. It is loud at about 110KPH and at higher speeds it seems to quiet down. So? drive at higher RPMs.. These engines seem to love to rev! I have the 2006 Exec Model as they call it here. I will take it to the dealer for a 1year checkup tomorrow. I will mention it to him. I also have the MMT option. It takes getting used to, but I 99% of the time it is great. Go Toyotas..
