How Does The Parking Brake Function On The Prius

Hi all

I am new to the forum.

I am thinking of buying a Prius but, a friend who has one has been chatting and has expressed concern that the parking brake button, if accidentally pressed while travelling at speed will cause a serious hazard. Extensive research at the dealer and Toyota has revealed that no one has an answer. Before I leap in, I also understand that the latest intention is to revert to lead acid batteries - does anyone out there have answers please.

Thats easy according to the manul and a trial run pressing the 'P' button while doing more than 3mph simply puts the vehicle into neutral and issues a warning beep (or it would do until had to remove the bleeper due to its volume when reversing).

as for rumours the story so far it that the Battery will upgrade to Lithium Ion type not downgrade to Lead Acid..

Thanks Mike I thought what my pal was saying was a bit far fetched - regards Bob
