Dear TOC,

Got EMS light on dash, fitted used O2 sensor. Light still on, so either duff O2 sensor or EMS needs ro be reset. Haynes manual does not mention how to do it. Does anyone know how to?

Cheers

Hi, I fitted an Oxygen Sensor myself recently (agree with 5mins) - and it was not necessary to reset the EMS - the light went out once the car had started. If that hadn't worked, I was going to disconnect the negative terminal of the Battery - but it wasnt necessary for me (1.8 GS Carina E). It sounds to me like you've got a duff sensor or a different problem (check that the EMS code is 21 with a paper clip in the diagnostic socket (this is described in the Haynes Manual, or google it)).

Hope that helps.

Hi,

As the previous post stated, you don't need to reset anything on the Carina when fitting a new oxygen sensor.

Did mine and it went out straight away and i had it confirmed by main dealer that this was the case.
