In the live action Initial D movie, toyota specifically built a number of truenos just for use in the movie, i wonder if upon request, would they make the Classic car again? I am 17 and starting to learn to drive and i would like a car that looks similar to the trueno with the pop up headlights when i get my full license!

Thanks for any replies.

Welcome.

Unless your dad's Bill Gates then you can forget any possibility of Toyota making you anything like that specially for you. Even if you had millions to spend they'd probably not be able to help you, and the pop-ups would be illegal on a new car these days.

Plenty of nicely restored old ones about if you keep your eyes open though. And insurance shouldn't be too expensive either.

Good luck.

Damn Toyota lol how comes it is illegal? well when i do get a car, im going to look out for any cars with pop-up lights! Thanks for the reply. How much would they roughly cost though for a decent car that isn't too rusted etc.? I don't think i can spend over £1500+ on a new car since im stil 17, insurance would be expensive.

-edit- by the way, could you recommend any toyota cars that may have pop up lights in the UK please? i live in northampton area.

Well, either of the best Toyotas evAR! MR2 Mk2 and and Gen 5 Celica for example ;)

Or Mr2 Mk 1 and Celica Mk4 perhaps.

You can get very good Celicas for that money and the insurance shouldn't be too bad if you avoid the GT4 Turbos. Personally I wouldn't recommend the MR2, especially the Tubby, to a new driver, though there are plenty on here who have had them as first cars and not had any problems with them. MR2 insurance tends to be higher than Celica because of their layout.

PS Manufacturers phased pop up lights out in the mid 90s because they're regarded as dangerous if you hit a pedestrian when the lights are up. I guess they probably are, though regular cars are fairly dangerous too.

HTH.

Hmmm dangerous if the lights were up? well it shudnt really do that much damage can it? if careful driving and not hit the pedestrian in the first place. Well how much are Celica Mrk4? i looked on wiki and they look nice! I want my budget to be around £1000(car wise) at most. >__< Does it have more than 2 seats? i would like to have the back seats aswell if possible.

-edit- I have found on autotrader.co.uk a 1993 Celica GT liftback for £700 just 3 miles away from where i live, is it a good idea to ask and persuade my dad to buy me it as practise car and to own as a first?
