Rear Brakes

i went for my NCT last week and it failed on a rear brakes imbalance. after taking it to my local mechanical he softened the calipers as he said they were sticking. so i had my re-test this morning and guess what, it failed again on the same rear break imbalance. The tester showed me on their computer screen how the left caliper was working fine but that the right rear caliper only works when the brake pedal is pushed extra hard and that this would not suffice in everyday driving circumstances. i am stumped! any ideas or solutions to this problem would be brilliant!!!

it would need the caliper piston taking out and cleaned , even renewed , they dont cost much , it may also be the rear flexi hose needs replacing .

id personally put a recon caliper on there and a new flexi hose , job sorted,

price the bits here --- www.brakesinternational.co.uk

thanks for the help, i have since taken it to a mechanic and he agreed with you but when we went to tackle the caliper we found no brake fluid at all and tracked the problem back to the brake equaliser - wel we think anyways! thanks for the input anyways, cheers

the compensator kicks in under heavy braking. it maybe knackered or blocked if its not letting fluid through on light braking.
