was driving the other day and the car suddenly lost power. theres no conpresion in piston number 1,the spark plug was covered in carbon, and the cars been burning oil,so im asuming the carbon build up has jammed somthing.tried valve cleanser and its not budged. so obv know the valve stem oil seals are prob knackered to start with and prob the piston rings. as some of u may know ive had a load of trouble in the past with engines and im now fed up,is it worth the hastle or shud i break the car for spares?

all comments welcome guys

Not likely to be a siezed piston if the engine's turning at all.

Given that it was a sudden loss of power, and you have no compression whatsoever, then it's most likely going to be a holed piston or a bent valve. Probably the former I'd say, but a leakdown test would clear that up.

All you can do is find out what it'll cost to repair, and compare that against what you think the car is worth to you if it were repaired. It's getting harder to justify spending the money on Gen 5s because they can be bought so cheaply. But if you like the car then perhaps its worth doing, especially if you're confident that the rest of it is in good condition.

Good luck.
